WESTMINSTER, CO: Week 8 Recap | The field has been set

The humor in our lives

The regular season is complete, and we know who will move in to the play-in round in Westminster. The top eight teams will compete for a spot in the state tournament in Parker on March 5th.

Long Shots - 88 VS. Medicinal Mambas - 81

In the best match up of the night the Long Shots finished out their season 7-1 as they stole their last win from the Medicinal Mambas. A close matchup and a close game until the last few minutes this game went back and forth with several different changes in who lead. Ultimately though it was the Long Shots who got fired up in the second half where Captain Derek Elliot lead his team with 31 points and 14 rebounds, playing a crucial role in their come back with his explosive performance and hitting key shots from beyond the arc, (50% from the 3 point line, 6-12). The combined efforts of Dylan Vandenend, Marvin Augustin and Ruben Rivas all putting up double digit performances were not enough to overcome the Long Shots. The mambas finish 3-4 in league.

The Bad Boys - 108 VS. Purple Cobras - 66

In what was less than an anticipated matchup, The Bad Boys with no hesitation shut down The Purple Cobras early on in the game leading into half time with a 20 point lead. Great performances from tag team Matt Rice (34 points) and Blake Mahler (21 points) helped put the Purple Cobras away early. Bad Boys finish this league 6-2 while the Cobras finished 3-5. These two teams will meet again in the first round in the playoffs.

IMPACT Basketball - 109 VS. Eat, Sleep, Ball, Repeat - 77

A solid W for the reigning champions, IMPACT Basketball. ESBR has struggled this season finishing 2-6 and although they did not just roll over for IMPACT, it was clear they had no chance keeping up with the number one team in the league. Expected to win the league for a second time in a row, IMPACT finished 8-0 tonight with another 40+ performance from Team Captain and more than likely League MVP Beau Barney. IMPACT has been unstoppable the past two seasons and it will take maximum effort and focus for any team to give them a run for their money.

Ciroc Boyz - 76 VS. The Gladiators - 64

A good matchup Tuesday night as Ciroc Boyz took on The Gladiators. Missing big man Kyle Norman, The Gladiators still have impressive speed and skill in order to keep up with the top teams even though they finished with a less than impressive record of 1-7. Ciroc Boyz take the win from The Gladiators and finish 6-2 in the league. As one of the top teams led by killer athletes such as Chris Morgan and sharp shooters like Alfredo Garcia, If Ciroc Boyz can get their bench together and on the same page for the playoffs they will go far.
