WESTMINSTER, CO: Week 7 Preview | Planting the seedings

There are two weeks left in the regular season in Westminster. Who will be the top eight teams that move on to the elimination round before the state tournament takes place?

Long Shots vs. The Bad Boys

To kick things off, we have the game of the night where two very good teams go at it battling for playoff seeding position. Long Shots are fresh off their first loss, while the Bad Boys have been able to put together a string of wins. Both teams are now tied and this game is the game of the year for each of them. Long Shots led by Derek Elliot are a very quick and fast paced team, while The Bad Boys play more of a half court set and uses their size to their advantage. Carlos Matos is the key player to the Bad Boys, and is who keeps them composed and controls the pace of the game. If the Long Shots can disrupt Matos, they have a good chance to get the win this week. Expect this game to go down to the wire and don’t be surprised if overtime could be looming.

Purple Cobras vs. The Gladiators

The Gladiators finally got into the win column and this week this game is very winnable as well. The Purple Cobras are a newer team and have gotten a few wins this season and are improving each week. Both these teams are evenly matched and have similar styles of play. This game likely will come down to which ever team is willing to step up and take over on the defensive end of the court. This is a much-needed win for both teams so I expect both teams to come out with a fire under them.

VEGAS LINE: THE GLADIATORS -4

Medicinal Mambas vs. Eat, Sleep, Ball, Repeat

Both teams are coming off wins last week and both expect to be able to get another one this week. The Mambas joined the season late, but are really starting to mesh together as the season wears on. ESBR has been riding the hot hand of Austin Elzinga and its interesting to see if he will continue that pace throughout the rest of the season. Dylan Vandenend has been dominant as of late in the paint and if he is dominating inside, they are a very hard team to beat. The Mambas are a very dangerous team offensively, but their only downside seems to be on the defensive end of the court. ESBR will need to use that to their advantage but it’s certainly still a hard task. This is an important game for both teams, and a win here could gain them some serious momentum heading into the playoffs.

Ciroc Boyz vs. Life Time Legends

The Ciroc Boyz have already played most their tough games of the season already and are looking to get some repetition in before the playoffs. This is a typical trap game and for that reason the Ciroc Boyz should not take the Legends lightly, even despite their record. The Legends have played some close games this season and have surprised a lot of people by their play. Paul Grosshuesch is a new player this year and is likely going to be a hot commodity next season having averaged 25 points a game this season. The Ciroc Boyz will need to focus on stopping him and that should be enough to get them the win this week.

IMPACT Basketball vs. LT Ballers

I am not going to sugar coat it, this game is going to be ugly. IMPACT is the clear number one team and the Ballers are in last place. I wish I could have more to say about this game but with how IMPACT has played this season, its hard to imagine anything good could come from this game. This isn’t a diss on the Ballers, but rather just tells just how good IMPACT is… If the LT Ballers can pull the upset this week, someone in Vegas is going to make A LOT of money.
