ROSEVILLE, CA: Week 5 Power Rankings | Week 6 Predictions

ROSEVILLE, CA: Week 5 Power Rankings | Week 6 Predictions

Week five for Ultimate Hoops in Roseville, California is in the books and only one team remains undefeated. You can probably guess who is ranked first in our power rankings.

With only three weeks remaining in the regular winter season let’s look at the new power rankings after week five, and the predictions for the upcoming week six games, tonight.

RANKED: 1 Syracuse 5-0

With a 5-0 record there is no question that Syracuse should be ranked first in the league. Ryan Nakamura, Emanuel Maceira, Juston Willis, and team continue to win, and they are the only undefeated squad remaining. With only three games left this season there is still time to knock them off the mountain top, but it won’t be easy.

PREDICTION: Syracuse over Arizona by 5

RANKED: 2 Michigan 4-1

Prescott Johnson, Clarence Lee, Ben Douglas, and crew suffered their first loss last week when they met the undefeated Syracuse. Make no mistakes however, they are still one of the top teams in the league. I expect them to win big over Pepperdine, tonight.

PREDICTION: Michigan over Pepperdine by 10

RANKED: 3 Duke 3-2

I have John Pichon, McCory Ledesky, Mark Randle and the rest of Duke ranked third still, but don’t be surprised if they start climbing even further up the rankings. John Pichon continues to dominate the league. I anticipate a fairly easy win for Duke if Austin Brewer doesn’t show up this week. If Austin shows up it may not be so easy.

PREDICTION: Duke over North Carolina by 7

RANKED: 4 Arizona 2-3

Deon Robinson and Aaron Nichols destroyed Pepperdine last week with a 21-point win. They look like a whole new team since Aaron joined them. That being said, they face Syracuse tonight. Although It should be a good game, I don’t think they have enough depth to get by the top ranked team in the league.

PREDICTION: Syracuse over Arizona by 5

RANKED: 5 Gonzaga 2-3

Guard, Erik Thomas, and 6’8” Center, Lavin Peets, will always be a threat, but they lost for the second time in a row last week. The good news for them is that they face a struggling Oregon. I assume they will put an end to their losing streak tonight with a win over Oregon.

PREDICTION: Gonzaga over Oregon by 7

RANKED: 6 North Carolina 1-4

Chris Collins and team are doing their best, but until Mr. Brewer shows up they will continue to struggle against the better teams in the league. I don’t think they have a chance against Duke tonight without him.

PREDICTION: Duke over North Carolina by 7

RANKED: 7 Oregon 2-3

Last week Oregon had some help from statistician, Darius Wright, with the game-winning shot. But they were behind the whole time. Unless they get some additional help this week, I don’t see them getting by Gonzaga on their own.

PREDICTION: Gonzaga over Oregon by 7

RANKED: 8 Pepperdine 1-4

Last week they lost to Arizona by 21. I don’t think they will fair any better against Michigan. I moved them down to the last spot in the rankings, despite the commendable effort of Jose Zaragoza.

PREDICTION: Michigan over Pepperdine by 10

Don’t like your ranking? Think my prediction is wrong? Do something about it on the court on Monday.
