ROSEVILLE, CA: Week 2 Power Rankings | Week 3 Predictions
It was an exciting Week 2 for Ultimate Hoops in Roseville, California! We had some fierce competition that included double overtime, and a couple of underdogs making strong statements with their play. Let’s look at the new power rankings after Week 2, and the predictions for the upcoming Week 3 games.
RANKED 1 Syracuse 2-0
Ryan Nakamura, Emanuel Maceira, Juston Willis, and team continue to play like the best in the league. Are they better than Michigan? Right now we have them ranked first, but that could change in a couple weeks when they meet Michigan. Syracuse goes up against Oregon this week, and although Oregon played well last week, I’m not sure they have what it takes to beat out Syracuse.
PREDICTION: Syracuse over Oregon by 8
RANKED 2 Michigan 2-0
After Week 2, Michigan looks like they could be the best for the Winter 2016 Season. It’s still a long season but we have them ranked second. Let’s see if they can remain on top. This week they play North Carolina. Based on what we have seen so far, Michigan should pull off the win.
PREDICTION: Michigan over North Carolina by 8
RANKED 3 Gonzaga 1-1
Although Gonzaga lost last week it was only by 5 and it was against Michigan. They have a solid team, and Arizona shouldn’t stop them in Week 3. With a well-rounded guard like Erik Thomas, and a towering 6’8” Center like Lavin Peets, they should pull-off the win.
PREDICTION: Gonzaga over Arizona by 8
RANKED 4 Duke 1-1
Duke is my sleeper pick of the season. I think that with players like John Pichon, Chris Collins, McCory Ledesky, and Mark Randle, it’s only a matter of time before they figure out how good they are. Although Pepperdine has a lot of untapped talent as well, I have to go with Duke in Week 3.
PREDICTION: Duke Over Pepperdine by 7
RANKED 5 Oregon 1-1
Max Comerford has been playing well, and Deon Taylor was on fire from the 3-point line last week. That being said, Syracuse will be a tough challenge in Week 3.
PREDICTION: Syracuse over Oregon by 8
RANKED 6 North Carolina 1-1
Austin Brewer has been playing like a man possessed. He leads his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. However, for North Carolina to be successful moving forward, he is going to need more help from his teammates.
PREDICTION: Michigan over North Carolina by 8
RANKED 7 Pepperdine 0-2
Pepperdine continues to struggle despite their talent. If Ralph Sanders, Jose Zaragoza, Edward Miller, and the rest of the guys can put it together as a team, they can still pull off a good season. They will have to do it quick though, because this week they face Duke.
PREDICTION: Duke Over Pepperdine by 7
RANKED 8 Arizona 0-2
Deon Robinson leads his team in points, assists, steals, and blocks. With the help of Scott Boeding and Steve Salcido, they may be able to improve their current play, but it wont be easy. This week they face Gonzaga who has played well so far.
PREDICTION: Gonzaga over Arizona by 8
