WESTMINSTER, CO: Week 2 Preview | Two teams make their debuts

Matt Lloyd looks to continue the winning ways with The Bad Boys

Week one in Westminster was a display of who could miss more shots with everyone winning (or losing) that battle. With a game under their belts, teams look to develop some chemistry and come away with victories this week. Here is your week two preview.

Long Shots vs. Eat, Sleep, Ball, Repeat

The Long Shots are back and looking for retribution this season. Each year they have a fantastic regular season, only to come up short in the playoffs. They have a new mix of players but still are led by team captain Derek Elliot. This team is normally an up and down, fast paced team, but this season their cast of players might suit a half court tempo more so than in the past. ESBR is back with mostly their same squad as last year and if they have anything on their side its chemistry. This team loves to share the ball and has a lot of players with high basketball IQ. Long Shots have the distinct size advantage in this matchup and they will need to use that to pull off the win this week. ESBR will need the three ball to be falling for them and also a solid team effort on rebounding. This game could either end up a blowout, or very well a nail biter.

IMPACT vs. The Gladiators

IMPACT is, well, IMPACT and we all know just how good they are. The big question this game is the status of Gladiator’s team captain Saul Chavira. He went down with a knee injury last week but ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that it likely is just a knee sprain and nothing that concerning. He should just miss a few weeks if anything. Without Saul, this Gladiators team is a mystery so it’s hard to predict how well they will do against the defending champs. Even with Saul, this would be a tough matchup for any team so expect IMPACT to be the heavy favorites this week. With the addition of Jimmy Binnie, this IMPACT team has one of the toughest duos in Ultimate Hoops history.

Medicinal Mambas vs. Ciroc Boyz

Aaron Lohman always seems to put together a unique cast of players and this season could be the wildest mix he has ever came up with. Arguably the best point guard in past leagues, Ruben Rivas, is back and will lead the Medicinal Mambas into this new season. There still is a few new players whom no one has seen before, so it’s hard to predict how good this team can be. This game will be a good meter on just how impressive this squad can be. Ciroc Boyz is a brand new team with a new mix of players and although they lost last week against IMPACT, they played a good first half and showed sparks of greatness. Richard Peterson will be back after missing week one and his presence is sure to change the dynamic of the Ciroc Boyz. This is one game that both teams will want to win badly and could very well turn out to be the matchup of the night.

The Bad Boys vs. Life Time Legends

The Bad Boys looked GREAT in their first game, and we expect them to only get better as the season wears on. We aren’t really sure just who is on the Legends team but if history repeats itself, the Bad Boys should win, and by a lot. There really isn’t too much promise for this game, and a blowout is to be expected.

LT Ballers VS. Purple Cobras

The tenth team to join the Ultimate Hoops Westminster league, LT Ballers, make their season debut against the Purple Cobras this week. The Purple Cobras picked up a solid win last week and look to carry that momentum against a team that is mixed with familiar faces and UH rookies. Look for this game to come down to the last shot.
