MONTVALE, NJ: What’s Going On Here?

Team Banner means business

While we still have no idea who has the best shot at winning this thing, the real craziness at the moment came from Thursday night’s action. Take a look at some of these wild box scores and stat lines.

At this point, if you’re playing the Super Splash Brothers or Bergen Tropics, your PPR is about to be handsomely rewarded. In the very same night the Bad Boyz went for 99, Team Banner dropped 101. Guess who their two opponents were…

In a single night, we witnessed two of the biggest offensive outbursts (or defensive failures, depending on how you look at it) in Montvale Ultimate Hoops history.

Here are some of the highlights:

Bad Boyz:

Paul Gashi topped 50.

Moe Abrams had a triple-double.

Credit the Splash Brothers for allowing about 30 uncontested layups after failing to get back on defense.

Team Banner:

Ryan Matthews
shot nearly 90% and dropped 35.

Credit the Bergen Tropics for allowing over 50% from 3, good for 45 points.

The fact that John Robertson went for 35 against the Ferrall Ballerz is almost an afterthought. While the Ballerz won, give Mr. Robertson some credit for going off against a legit defense. The Flint boys might be 2-2, but there’s no reason to worry. We should know after next week how our top four teams stack up when they play one another a little bit more.

For now, here’s a little more on Team Banner. With a match-up against the Splash Brothers up next, they might just break the scoreboard. Check out Ferrall’s meet-and-greet interview with the boys.
