MONTVALE, NJ: Let’s Gaze Into Our Crystal Ball

Crystal ball courtsey of Micky Faust

With the regular season more than halfway through, can we expect more of the same in the remaining weeks? Here’s a look into the future…

A few questions we’d all like some answers to:

Will RUNt win a game by fewer than 20 points this entire season?

It’s quite an embarrassment to the rest of the league that this question even needs to be asked. But here it is. The answer? Yes. A good candidate to do it? The Bad Boyz. Don’t all laugh at once. They’ve already been destroyed by RUNt, but that was back in Week 1. A lot has changed since. They’re climbing the standings and have gone three straight games without giving up 40 to the opposition. It’s likely going to take a low-scoring affair to give RUNt a real scare.

Will the Bergen Tropics (1-4) and/or Denver McNuggets (1-5) win another game?

Yes, because they play each other in the regular season finale. Seriously, though, which will finish with the worst record? The Tropics didn’t lose last night…because they didn’t play anyone. The McNuggets were blown out. It seems like forever ago when Chris Brundage was named the first Northeast Player of the Week. We know the Tropics haven’t scored more than 44 points in a game yet, but that 44 was good enough to beat...the McNuggets. So let’s just play the odds here and go with the Tropics having the better record because they still have three games to go.

Will Scott Ferrall survive another UHoops season?

After a relatively well-behaved start, Ferrall now seems ready to make up for lost time. He talked to Old School’s Billy Allen, Brett Merker and Akeem "The Dream" Atanda before the Ballerz latest game, and followed that up by having a nice chat with our referees. Perhaps that saved him from being thrown out near the conclusion of Wednesday night’s contest when things turned ugly. We know there will be more technicals to come, and likely more ejections. The question is, does it matter? Until a real fight breaks out on the court, his antics will likely be tolerated. The Ballerz aren’t as bad as they used to be, so Ferrall probably won’t totally lose it this season. However, stay tuned for the winter.
