MONTVALE, NJ: Say Hello to the Bad Boyz
The Bad Boyz mean business
They may be the newest UHoops squad, but with a statement win over Old School, it might be time to start taking notice.
In a game they led start to finish, the Bad Boyz beat the former champs at their own game – solid defense and efficient shooting. With a roster that has now grown to nine, these guys look a lot different and more balanced than the team that was blown out Week 1 by RUNt.
With five of the nine playing in the league for the first time, maybe the unknown factor is giving opponents trouble. That, however, won’t last long. On the other hand, it’s also not right to take anything away from an impressive win.
How about 50% from the field for the Boyz? That sounds pretty good, especially considering the opponent. Credit Mike Shaw, Mike DeLuca and Ryan Dawson for keeping that percentage so high. Don’t overlook the D either. The last two games, opponents haven’t been able to crack 40 on them.
So what does the loss mean for Old School? Cause for concern? Well, so far they’ve got two blowout wins and two eye-opening losses. It’s not a huge sample size. Let’s see how things progress over the second half of the season.
The Bergen Tropics, on the other hand, have plenty of reason to be concerned. Before their game, Scott Ferrall talked with Alexis Drullinsky about the sad state of the Tropics. We all saw that firsthand when the Ferrall Ballerz dismantled the them by nearly 30.
29 points for the Tropics? Ouch. What happened guys? You were trending up after last season. But now? Just one guy with more than five points last night? The Ballerz Jeff Fazio nearly outscored your team by himself. He had 11 field goals…to your 10! At 1-4, perhaps you fellas should switch back to the Team Randy nickname that became synonymous with bad basketball in past UHoops seasons.
