MONTVALE, NJ: Same Old Story…Different Old School?
Are we looking at another undefeated RUNt squad?
It was like Week 1 all over again. The Ballerz choke and RUNt runs away with one. But this time around, both feats were even more amazing.
This just in…The Ferrall Ballerz are snake-bitten. In a game they had absolutely zero business losing, they did the unthinkable yet again. Two weeks down, two overtime contests, and two losses.
These guys are noticeably better than last season, yet currently sit at 0-2. So what happened this time? Just Ball’s Mike Gonzalez happened. After the Ballerz let Just Ball hang around and inch closer and closer in the second half, Gonzalez stunned everyone with not one, but two three-pointers off the glass. The first kept his team alive, while the second was the unbelievable game-winner.
The McNuggets, who took down the Ballerz last week, were also a part of a crazy finish in a loss to the Tropics. Chris Patrick hit a two-pointer (foot on the line) with his team down three in the final seconds. Game over. Tough break? Yes…But again, see the Ferrall Ballerz.
We did have one rout Wednesday night. Who out there thought Old School would lose by over 20 in their UHoops return? Well maybe RUNt, who dealt them the statement defeat. But even though the defending champs haven’t lost in months, Old School is no slouch. They brought back nearly the exact same team that won the first Montvale title. In this game, however, they looked like a group of guys who just couldn’t keep up.
Is it too soon to throw out a RUNt title prediction again? Two games, two wins by a combined 49 points?! Maybe not…
