MONTVALE, NJ: And We’re Off!

Week 1 is done, and it seems like the Montvale fall season has picked up right where the summer left off. RUNt dominated and the Ferrall Ballerz provided the drama…and lost.

Really, we couldn’t have had a better contest to begin the season- A double-overtime nail-biter between the Ferrall Ballerz and Denver McNuggets that ended in –surprise – a Ballerz defeat. Scott Ferrall kicked off the fall campaign in style by getting T’d up less than five minutes into the first game of the night.

But wait! Let’s not get too down on these guys. They might be onto something with some upgraded talent and renewed excitement. Mike Pritts, Dan Bronstein and Jeff Fazio were all huge contributors who weren’t on the team in the summer.

Speaking of newcomers, how about those McNuggets? The former Dream Team mixed in some fresh faces, including leading scorer Chris Brundage. Contenders? Sure, why not. It’s Week 1. Everybody has reason to believe!

The defending champs? Kern and Graff are still there taking 80% of the team’s shots. But if it ain’t broke… On the flip side, what did seem broken was the offensive performance of the Bad Boyz, making their UHoops debut. 24 points against RUNt? Maybe Mike Shaw is already regretting his decision to leave his former team.

With all that said, the fun really begins next week, when we get to see Old School make their much-awaited UHoops return. Are they still the team to beat? We’ll find out soon if they’ve still got it, because in their very first game, they’re playing…RUNt.
