MONTVALE, NJ: RUNt vs. Dream Team for the Title

RUNt will go for the first perfect season in Montvale UHoops history next Wednesday. All they have to do is take down a .500 team. Is it really that simple?

The action went pretty much as expected Tuesday night. The Bergen Tropics showed some fight as usual, but just didn’t have enough offense to stay with RUNt, who won by 13. Meanwhile, the Dream Team hung on in a close one over Just Ball. (Now that they’re eliminated, the former Team Justin suddenly has a new name.)

So what are the Dream Team’s chances of winning it all? If the regular season is any indication at all, not very good. For one, they are the only team that has twice lost by double-digits to RUNt. In the first of those two meetings, Mike Shaw didn’t even play.

If they have any shot, the Dream Team’s best bet might be to keep firing away from three. Both teams in the title game lead the league with similar make and attempt stats (6 and 19, respectively). The only problem is that RUNt scores it at over 67 per game. The Dream Team? 50. Clearly, RUNt’s performance inside the arc is superior.

Will we be in store for a shocker next week? Well, anything can happen in one game…but let’s just kill the suspense. We're talking about an undefeated team that hasn't had a scare all season. The declaration was first made on August 13, less than halfway through the season, and there’s certainly no reason to change it now: RUNt will be tops.
