MONTVALE, NJ: Who's Ready For Postseason Play...And Who's Gonna Lay Down?

Brad Dimperio and Team Justin hope to take down the Dream Team

The regular season is complete. Three more games and we will have a new champ. The question is…Will RUNt run away with this thing?

It’s a shame Team Justin finally fielded a complete team Wednesday night. Why? In doing so, they took down the Bergen Tropics and assured themselves of avoiding RUNt in the first round of the playoffs. The Tropics had been on a role. It would have been great to see them make it to the title game. Well guys, it doesn’t look like it’s happening. The Tropics put up just 37 points last night. RUNt? 93. Granted, it was against the Ferrall Ballerz. But it’s really just a reminder that it’s tough for anyone to keep up with these guys.

With that said, here’s a closer look at the semifinals next week:

RUNt vs. Bergen Tropics

The Tropics have a new name and a new attitude, but they will have to wait until next season to make a real impact. Unfortunately, they have drawn the undefeateds in the semis. RUNt won both regular season meetings by a combined 32 points. The Bergen Boys are going to have to hope that Vinnie Graff shoots 3-for-20 (very possible) and dominate on the boards (also very possible). But even if both happen, Mike and Mike (Shaw and Kern) will still be there to carry the offense. In other words, good luck guys.

Prediction: RUNt

Dream Team vs. Justin

This one isn’t so cut-and-dry. Both teams are 4-4 and haven’t had full squads in many of their games. The Dream Team won both regular season meetings by similar scores, including a Week 1 contest in which both were in fact at full strength. Still, it was close. Outside shooting could swing this one, especially if Team Justin can knock down just a few from three. They’re last in the league in attempts, makes and percentage. The Dream Team, meanwhile, shoot more triples than anyone. It could swing the other way if they’re not hitting them.

Prediction: Dream Team
