Team RUNt, congrats. You’re the 2014 summer champs.
The two undefeateds met Wednesday night, and it wasn’t exactly a heavyweight fight. For starters, RUNt didn’t even need their key big man, Ryan Dawson, or a top scorer, Mike Shaw. Both were absent, and they still led wire-to-wire. The Dream Team, at full strength, fell by double-digits.
The scary thing here is that RUNt didn’t play all that well either. Vinnie Graff, you did your shooting percentage zero favors with a 4-for-23 showing. But that’s the amazing thing. Despite weighing down RUNt's average to 35% for the game, as a team you guys were still better than the Dream Team’s 29%.
While we’re talking percentages, how about getting Mr. Michael Kern some more shots? Dude is shooting it over 50% right now…from 3!
You guys should be steamrolling the opposition from this point on- assuming everyone is healthy and shows up- and that may very well happen. Even at your worst, it still appears to be good enough to beat anyone. Consider…
We saw the Ferrall Ballerz pack it in for the season with an embarrassing defeat to Team Randy. (See what happened after we called out Randy last week? Keep it up boys!) The only other team that hasn’t been mentioned, Justin, beat the Ballerz last week. And that’s it! Five teams. It’s as obvious as can be that RUNt is tops.
The sad note is that we’re not even halfway through the season and this thing is really all figured out. So RUNt, now it’s on you. Anything short of winning it all should be considered a failure and an embarrassment. No pressure.
