TULSA, OK: Old School Makes History Claiming 4th Championship

Old School 4-Peat

The last few seasons it seems like I have written the same article about who won the championship, and this season it is no different. The special thing about this article is that Old School not only won the spring season, but they claimed their 4th championship in a row. I am not sure if that has ever been done in Ultimate Hoops before. Last season, I wrote an article about if Old School is considered a dynasty. I believe that the argument is over now and there is no question that Old School is a dynasty. Even if they hang up their shoes for good, we should appreciate the feat they have accomplished. We may never see it again.

Not only is this championship special because they won their fourth straight, but they did it this season without having their full team available for every game. They were missing key parts every game this season, and still found a way to win and stay undefeated even if they only had 4 players that played in a game. It was no different last week when they played Tulsa Snipers in the finals. They were missing a major piece and arguably the best player in the league in Andy Mathurin and still found a way to win. The Snipers were definitely game and almost pulled off the upset. The game was all knotted up at the end of the first half, and was back and forth the whole second half. In the end it was the balanced scoring and clutch shots in the last 2 minutes by Old School that gave them the win. Every player scored in double digits and the unselfishness of the team really stood out as their leading scorer was Victor Clore and he only had 21 with the rest of the teammate’s right behind him in the scoring. Tyler Davidson and Paul Gray tried their best to carry the Snipers, but in the end just wasn’t enough.

Old School is different than most as they are the true definition of the team. They don’t have just one player that they count on, and it was evident especially this season when they were never at full strength. On any given night they can have someone different step up and carry the team. They have proven that they are true champions in every way finding a way to get up and play every week, taking every other teams best shot, and still able to win the championship again for the fourth time. Whether you love them or hate them, you have to respect them and admire the feat they have accomplished. We may never see anything like this again. Congratulations again Old School!!!
