MONTVALE, NJ: One Score Left to Settle - RUNt vs. YGM for the Title

Montvale UHoops will have a new champion in its second season as we are now set for a rubber match between RUNt and the Young Gelt Militia next Wednesday night.

Let’s give recognition to Josh Aviles, Tommy Stanley, Mike Shaw, Vinnie Graff and Andrew Mendez. A week after falling by 15 to Old School, the same five guys again played the entire game. This time, it was a much different result.

RUNt knocked out the winter champs in an overtime thriller by beating Old School at their own game – solid defense and an efficient offense. What made the difference this time? One thing is for sure- the guys from RUNt have heart, and they weren’t about to be embarrassed by Old School again.





After hitting the game winner, Vinnie made it clear that his preference in the title game was the Ferrall Ballerz. No real surprise there. His wish would not be granted, however, as the Ballerz wound up losing to the Young Gelt Militia.

YGM defeated the enigmatic squad in a game that wasn’t really ever in doubt. Rob Cohan made his return on his best behavior. It didn’t matter. Scott Ferrall, meanwhile, insisted he wouldn’t lose his cool. He played poorly and, surprise, surprise…He was ejected.

Without really being tested in the Semis, is YGM at a disadvantage going into the title game? Perhaps. The interesting note here though is that only one team has defeated the Militia this season when they’ve been at full strength. That team…is RUNt. Get your popcorn ready.
