MONTVALE, NJ: A New Sherriff In Town?

The men took on the boys last night as the defending champs, Old School, faced off against the high schoolers, Young Gelt Militia. When it was all said and done, however, who were the real men?

YGM made its presence known with a 39-33 grind-it-out win and a nice little scuffle to top off the action courtesy of Old School’s Brett Merker shoving YGM’s Jordan Lazarus. So scandalous that our post game interview got cut off when I brought it up to Jordan? Not really, as all seemed cool after the game. A frustration push, perhaps? Could be. Merker wound up fouling out, as did Akeem Atanda. Old School certainly did not seem thrilled with the officiating.




Is the 2-0 Young Gelt Militia now the team to beat? Did Old School get hosed by the refs?

While the night’s other action wasn’t quite as thrilling, we did have another confrontation as Ferrall Ballerz beat Just the Tip 71-58. Scott Ferrall got into a shouting match with Rob Buonanno, but no blood was shed. Team Randy lost to Justin 50-42. With an extremely short-handed squad, Randy barely made it through the game but did show a lot of fight by being able to keep it close.
