WOODSTOCK, GA : Season Preview | Can the Killa Beez keep the streak alive?

Jack Patrick wins his first championship...but from the bench.

Spring Season is upon us here at the Woodstock Ultimate Hoops league and the Killa Beez have yet to lose a game in 2016. Coming off their first championship and undefeated season, can the Killa Beez keep up their winning ways? We have a bunch of mix ups around the rest of the league as new and old teams try to knock off the champs.

Pre-Season Power Rankings

1. Killa Beez - It's hard to say a team that went 10-0 last year isn't the favorite when they are returning all 9 players. They may not have the best overall talent in the league, but they play hard every night and they have the chemistry you need to win a championship. They got a huge lift in guard play from newcomer Conner McKinley last season. He gave them an extra scoring threat, ball handler, and someone who they could count on to run the offense. There are rumors that Jack Patrick is not happy with this limited playing time, but he probably won't want to challenge his father figure Taylor Patterson about his minutes. They are the team to beat until someone knocks them off.

2. Follies 2.0 - Follies really didn't get the chemistry they needed headed into the playoffs last season. With Darian Kearney missing most of the regular season, this team never got to find out who they really were. They also had some poor additions that did not mesh well with their star players. They have got stronger inside with the addition of Brent Jones after the Roswell Ballers collapsed last year. With Brent, Prince, and Jarett Hinton on the inside this team has a lot of talent. They already have some of the best guard play in the league, and they are hungry to get back on top. I wouldn't be surprised to see this team taking the top spot in our midseason rankings.

3. Tune Squad - Yes this is the team the went 1-7 last season, but they added the most dominant player from the Winter season Michael Corkrum, along with key role players Dillon Roosa and Jacob Edwards. Kyle Taylor is the mastermind behind this new franchise, but will he be able to share the ball with his teammates. Kyle loves to attack the rim and get shots up. There might not be enough basketballs to go around with this team, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they make a big championship push this season.

4. Mountain Brook Assisted Living - They have added some players to get this team a little younger. William York should provide a big presence inside, but Joe Kafati may not have thought this team out too well. He has a lot of question mark players and not enough playmakers. Vincent Mitchell looks like he will be all alone again on an island in the backcourt. This looks like a similar situation to what he had with the Roswell Ballers last season. I just think he needs to find a better agent.

5. Free Agents - I say this every season, but no matter what talent that you have it's very hard to win as a Free Agent team. They will need someone on this team to step up big and become a leader on defense. One problem that plagues this team every season is that they do not play 44 minutes on the defensive end. If they can find a player who can change that mentality, then they could get a couple wins and make some noise this year. As always we will see who shows up on opening night!
