COMMERCE OPEN: Power Rankings | Which team will remain undefeated?

Ben Kil with the tough layup

Only two teams remain undefeated and they meet in Week 4. C4 (3-0) and Dat Aint Fair (3-0) match up in the game of the night.

1) Dat Aint Fair (3-0) – Dat Aint Fair met little to no resistance in a game against Rock City in week 3. They won 140-63 and had 4 players score over 20 pts. McKinsey Golfin had a quadruple double (34 pts, 13 reb, 11 ast, 10 stl), Vaughn Gray had a triple double (34 pts, 13 reb, 12 ast), and Bill Treece chipped in 46 points in the win. The #1 team in our power rankings will face a much stiffer test in week 4 against #2 ranked and also undefeated C4.

2) C4 (3-0) – C4 finally got Jeff Jayson back in the lineup and he responded with 41 pts (9 3’s) to lead C4 to a hard fought 5-pt win over Sons of Basketball. PG Brandon Nafso continued to put up MVP type numbers posting 18 pts, 6 reb, and 6 ast in a 3rd straight W. C4 will have a chance to take over the #1 ranking when they face off with Dat Aint Fair Thursday night.

3) Sons of Basketball (2-1) – Sons of Basketball stays at #3 in the rankings despite a loss to C4. Sons of Basketball has more size than anyone in the league and used it to their advantage to make it a very close game with C4. Sons will continue to have a major size advantage in week 4 when they face a more athletic squad. If they can continue to grind out games and own the glass, Sons of Basketball will be a force down the stretch and into the playoffs.

4) Running Rebels (1-2) – In a game with huge playoff implications, GM Rashodd Ross and his Rebels pulled out a hard fought 74-67 win over Squad. Five players scored in double figures and the sixth had 9 pts in one of the most balanced efforts we have seen from Ross’s teams which are usually focused around 1 or 2 star players. If they can continue to build chemistry, they have the talent to be a force in the playoffs.

5) Squad (0-3) – If anyone was in the gym to watch Squad warm up for a particular game and see the athleticism on this team, you would never guess they were 0-3. Squad is currently settling for way too many jump shots and is proving to be a poor jump shooting team. They are shooting a putrid 29% as a team from 3 and taking over 32 attempts per game from distance. Once they recognize that they are one of the most athletic teams to come through Ultimate Hoops Commerce and use that to their advantage, then watch out.

6) Rock City (0-3) – Rock City gave up 140 points to #1 ranked Dat Aint Fair in week 3 and through three weeks is getting outscored by an average score of 108-55. While many of these players had never played together before this session, it will be essential down the stretch for them to work on communication/chemistry if they are going to pull off an upset this season and avoid going winless.
