GILBERT, AZ: FALL 2015 | All Gilbert Team

Brent Canada (GRINDIN) better get used to double teams in the tournament. Can he find a way to lead his team deep in the tournament.

There has been a huge influx of new talent this year as word has spread around that UH is the league to be in. There are a bunch of new guys that have entered the league for the first time and were hungry to show their worth; evident by the fact that 3 of the 5 1st teamers are in their first year. There are definitely more than just 10 players that deserve to be on the list, but these are the ones that have stood out to the committee.

Disclaimer: Stats play just one part in the discussion. We’ve also taken into account, the value each of these players has brought to their team. Everyone is entitled their opinions and no right answers truly exist really, but I think the subjectivity is what makes this such a fun topic - regardless of how much data we use to support the picks, we’ll always be subjected to scrutiny and criticism.

All Gilbert 1st Team

Pasquale Brocco (50.3 PRA, 36.6 PPR) - SET IT OFF
Pasquale has a quiet demeanor and just goes about his business – but his game is as efficient as they come. One of the best mid-range games we have in the league. He rarely forces shots which makes it hard for defenders play him. He has a smooth all-around game and yet his underrated athleticism is second to none. The wins may not have all been there, but he may have been the best pickup of the year. For SET IT OFF, they needed that one go-to-scorer and he’s definitely proved his worth to this team.

Brent Canada (48.7 PRA, 45.3 PPR) – GRINDIN
Brent is without a doubt one of the best big in the league and he continues to impress game after game. He’s got solid, fundamental moves on the block and is so efficient around the rim. An added bonus to his game is that he can also hit that high post 15 footer on a consistent basis. I’ve seen a few big men around the league that are just big and plodding, but the thing that sets Brent apart is his touch around the rim. He does a great job establishing himself with his array of low post moves on the low block.

Steven Wess (39.9 PRA, 24.7 PPR) – JUST DO IT
Steven is a savvy guard and anyone who has watched the games, knows what he brings to the table (28.0 PPG). He is the go to player for JUST DO IT when they need buckets. He brings it every night and is looking to beat you down any chance he gets - you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who is more competitive than him. It’s been a bit of struggle for his team to find wins, but I’m impressed with what he brings to the table every game. He plays smart and when his team is behind, he’ knows he needs to be the one that brings them back.

Isiah Bolton (35.3 PRA, 20.9 PPR) – HITTIN TRIPS
Isiah is one of the most underrated players we have in the league. He’s quiet on the court but his numbers speak volumes. To me, he is without a doubt one of the best guards in the league because has strong handles and can shoot from anywhere on the floor. His offensive is as good as they come, but I love watching him on defense. He doesn’t back down from the other bigger guards and is the kind of player that just annoys you because he’s relentless.

Engen Nurambi (34.0 PRA, 24.7 PPR) – GAME OVER
Engen has shown what a solid big man in this league can do. His length allows him to get great position on the block – and once he’s down there, it’s a guaranteed bucket. Defensively, he’s a handful because he clogs up the middle and will contest any and all shots in the paint. The team has seen numerous players come through this season, but having him will be a big reason why this team will finally breakthrough and go far in the tournament.

All Gilbert 2nd Team
Darrell Hunter - GRINDIN
Mike Rose - GRINDIN
Donovan McNabb – JUST DO IT
Jason Tollefson - REGULATORS
Donald Didlake – GAME OVER
