COMMERCE OPEN: Power Rankings | East meets West | C4 Captain loses friendly bet in interview

Members of C4 after their big win

C4 (5-0)the best in the west finally meets Shelby’s Finest (4-1) the best in the east in the top matchup of week 6. How do the rest of the rankings shake out? Continue reading to find out…

1) C4 (5-0, Last #1) – C4 will face their stiffest test of the season playing the east side’s best in Shelby’s Finest. As long as Brandon Nafso is running the break with shooters like Jeff Jayson and Jason Rennie, C4 will remain #1 . Look for big man Joseph Kassis to potentially be the difference against an undersized team in Shelby’s Finest.

2) Shelby’s Finest (4-1, Last #2) – Vaughn Gray and GM McKinsey Golfin will not beat C4 on their own in week 6. Shelby’s Finest will need more production from Johnnie Brown than the 9 points and 4 rebounds he put up last week to top the top rated team.

3) Hit Squad (3-2, Last #3) – GM Devante Pennyman has expressed his displeasure over his team’s last 2 losses. A third in a row against winless Sons of Basketball might put him over the edge. There is just too much talent on this team to move them down further yet, however, a loss this week would definitely drop them in the rankings.

4) Running Rebels (2-3, Last #4) – A 2-pt win over winless Sons of Basketball is anything but a ringing endorsement for the Running Rebels, but “a win is a win,” I guess. Matching up with #5 ranked Weekend Warriors in what is essentially a playoff game this week will provide a much better look at the playoff picture as the winner of that game will hold the head-to-head tiebreaker in the race for the 4th and final playoff spot.

5) Weekend Warriors (1-4, Last #5) – The Warriors have a do or die game this week against the Running Rebels. Win, and they have a great shot at making the playoffs, lose and they are eliminated from playoff contention. With a full squad (finally) in week 6, let’s see if this team can finally come together to pull off enough wins to sneak into the playoffs.

6) Sons of Basketball (0-5, Last #6) - While the Sons have not won a game yet, they could easily be 3-2 this session. They have lost two games by 1 point and another by 2 points. This could be the week they get on the board playing a Hit Squad team that is going in the wrong direction.
