COMMERCE REC: New Rivals | franchise player leaves his team

Ultimate Hoops in Commerce, just got a little more interesting. With the week 5 deadline to add a player, or replace a player due to injury lingering a championship caliber team did the unthinkable. Well not necessarily the unthinkable, but more so improbable. The rumors were around the league towards the end of the spring session, that a certain franchise player could be on the move…well eventually it happened!

One of the most talented players in the league has taken his talents elsewhere. After spending his first 3 and a half seasons as the franchise player for One Under, Desmond Sain has decided to join Hit Squad. The move comes after Hit Squad lost star player A’uston Calhoun left to go play overseas in France. Desmond is not the same powerful force that Calhoun is, but he still brings buckets to the table every game. He also can be a play maker for Hit Squad as well. Not only did Mr. Sain leave One Under but so did Derrick Foster. That gives HS another knock down shooter.

When the news finally hit the rest of the league, there were a select few players and GM’s that did not agree with the move. Mike Welsh former teammate of Desmond and Derrick, and GM of One Under tried to do whatever he could to keep both of them…as the saying goes, “to no avail.” One Under and Hit Squad actually faced off last week with One Under playing a very spirited game, but came up short when the clock struck 0.

Could this be a new rival in the league or perhaps a 1st round matchup depending on seeding? Possibly, but we will see how the season plays out. Check back with us in about 3 weeks!
