ATLANTA, GA: Atlanta OPEN Championship | Teams Look to Claim Atlanta's First Championship

Can The Late Starts move on to the semi-finals?

It’s the finally here! The Atlanta OPEN Championship has come to Alpharetta to crown the first ever Atlanta Champions. Never before has the city crowned a single champ, but this season all the talk of who the best in the ATL ends. It is time to prove it on the court. Which region will be taking home the banner to their club?

#8 Other Guys vs. #9 Skyforce 7PM

For the play in game we will have two teams that know each other very well. They both come out of the Woodstock league and have faced off this season. This game reminds me a lot of the NBA Finals that was just played. The Other Guys play small ball and like to push the pace, where Skyforce has 3 big men that get a ton of minutues. They are tough on the glass and depend on the inside scoring of Jarett Hinton. I think that Skyforce will have a better chance to contend in the rest of the tournament if they can pull this one out, but the small ball may get the best of them.

Prediction: The Other Guys by 2

#1 Enough Said vs. #8/#9 Play In Game 8PM

I don’t’need to know who wins the 8/9 game to decide who is going to win this game. There is about a 99% chance that Enough Said moves on to the semis. Both teams will be completely outmatched against Enough Said both inside and outside. I see Ant Brown having a monster game inside as he did the last time he faced Jarett Hinton. If Enough Said can keep getting performances like they have been getting from their role players Sorosch Golchin then they might just coast into the finals.

Prediction: Enough Said by 18

#4 Team USA vs. #5 The Late Starters 8PM

This is by far the matchup of the first round. Team USA is led by big man Devon Scott, but The Late Starters have some decent frontcourt players themselves. There is a rumor that their leading scorers Thomas Lemon might be late to the game, and if so that could cost The Late Starters a chance to advance in these playoffs. If Team USA can play together and get out on fast breaks they should be able to take this one from Alpharetta.

Prediction: Team USA by 6

#3 No More Losses vs. #6 Spartans (Alpharetta) 9PM

This is almost a rematch of the regional game played last week where the Spartans beat Team Follies at Alpharetta. No More Losses has a similar roster at Woodstock as they do in their Alpharetta league, but with the additions of Mike Hattub and Prince Kearney to their roster they have much more scoring across the board. Tion Watkins will have to decide who he is playing for at the 9PM slot and I see him playing with Prime Time Players. I see No More Losses taking this one after pulling away late.

Prediction: No More Losses by 5

#2 Prime Time Players vs. #7 Team Duke 9PM

This is a huge rivalry game out of Sugarloaf. Right now the Prime Time Players seem to be a much better team, but Team Duke has by far the best player in all the leagues Kendrick Jones. If Team Duke can come out and get hot early they should be able to stay in this game, but I think Prime Time really has a chance to win this whole thing this year.

Prediction: Prime Time by 7
