COMMERCE, MI REC: Old School

In most leagues nowadays, guards and wing players dominate. You won’t see any dominate big men who will just stay down low and punish the smaller defender. In more cases than not big men just aren’t skilled enough to stay around the basket and they don’t have good footwork. There is one guy in Ultimate Hoops who has been getting it done for quite some time now and that is Linzy Bennett of the Weekend Warriors.

Linzy might just be the oldest player in UH Commerce. But you couldn’t tell by his level of play. The 6’4 225 forward is averaging 25ppg, 11 assists, and 14.5 rebounds. Not only is he scoring, assisting and rebounding at a high clip. He is also shooting the percentage from the field 55% and 65% from 3 point land. He is more than just a jump shooter, he can put the ball on the floor and post up and draw the double team and get the ball to the right person.

Linzy and the Weekend Warriors are sitting at 2-0 in the early season. We all have seen this before with this team. This is one if the best overall teams that we have seen to never make an appearance in the championship game. This could be their season this time around, but who knows. Every season seems as if they can win. Can Linzy keep up his play for the remainder of the season and through the playoffs to get that preverbal monkey off his teams back?
