COMMERCE, MI REC: Championship Preview

James Way Posting Up On Darius Statum

The Sons of Basketball have got over that semifinals hurdle and have made it to the championship. Like most championship games it won’t be easy as they face an opponent who is as skilled as them and can match up at every position. The Runnin' Rebels will make their very first appearance in a UH Championship game, but they have several players on their team who has playoff experience and championships from other leagues within Ultimate Hoops.

This will be the 3rd meeting between the 2 teams this season. Sons of Basketball has won both of those meetings by a combined 10 points. While team captain and general manager Darius Statum has been on record saying that they have “blasted” the Rebels both games and is not worried about them he should think again. The Rebels have to skilled big men who can cause so many problems in the paint for the Sons. If the big men for the Rebels can’t be slowed down, expect it to be a long game.

This will be a fast paced game, which favors the Running Rebels…no pun intended. But if the Sons can dominate the glass and knock down open 3’s they will be tough to beat on Thursday night. After going around the league and speaking with several players and GM’s, the majority have picked the Running Rebels to win the championship game. I tend to agree as the Sons of Basketball have always found a way every season to lose at the worst time. That almost happened in the semifinal game last week with very sloppy play. Tune in Thursday night at 7:30 and see who will be crowned the Winter League Champ!
