SHELBY REC: Johnnie Brown Named Most Valuable Player | Marcus Anderson Best Defensive Player




Most Valuable Player: Johnnie Brown (Y-Lie)


Johnnie Brown has played in almost 300 Ultimate Hoops games. He is one of the top players, in our leagues every season. Y-Lie this winter season, started of 1-3. All of the Ultimate Hoops community doubted that Y-Lie could not make it to the championship game, as they did the previous season. Y-Lie then went on a four game winning streak, beating Walk-Ons and House of Skillz in overtime. In that four game winning streak Johnnie Brown has averaged a double- double with 23 points a game, and averaging 10.5 rebounds a game during the second half of the season. Y-Lie from one of the bottom of the standings, climb quickly to a 5-3 record, finishing 3rd in the winter season standings. Johnnie Brown is the cornerstone of this Y-Lie team. Y-Lie championship chances, on in their captain’s hands.

Best Defensive Player: Marcus Anderson

When a team has to adjust their offensive schemes to account for Marcus Anderson’s defensive game. That says a lot. Marcus Anderson has been a menace down low in the paint. He is averaging 3.5 blocks a game, and had 28 blocks this winter season. He makes it really difficult for players to attack the basket and forces opponents to take more jump shots then they usually do. Marcus Anderson is a dominate force on both sides of the court, and is a big asset for Performance on winning their second straight title.




Best Role Player: Anthony Amabile (House of Skillz)



On a team with players like Vaughn Gray, Adam Kaminski, and Brian Olley. Anthony Amabile knows his role, and it’s a shooter. He is shooting .61 percent from the three, which is the highest percentage in the league. Amabile averages 14.3 points a game and really worked on his rebounding averaging almost 6 rebounds a game. He also finished the season with a 24 point performance against Performance Fiber Glass.





Scoring Champion: (Most Points Scored During The Season): Adam Kaminksi (House of Skillz)


Adam Kaminski was one of the MVP Candidates for the winter season. He is a force not to be reckoned with. He scored 170 points in the 8 games he has played this season earning his the title of scoring champion this winter season.
