COMMERCE, MI REC: A New Season Underway

One Under During A Timeout

The winter session is amongst us and there are some new faces and some returning face for this session. With only eight teams this season and all of them being contenders, this should be an interesting season.

C4 - The defending champs are back and ready to defend their title. To help them do that they brought back Justin Nafso. In his first game back he had 17 points. He will definitely help out with the heart and soul of the team Waleed Salman out recovering from an Achilles injury.

Rent-A-Bounce - The team of 5 lost last year in the championship last season to C4. This season they bring in 2 familiar faces, Jenero Dawood and Brian Mills. These are 2 guys that can absolutely score the ball. These 2 will increase their chances of winning a championship as they force match up problems for other teams.

Hit Squad - GM Devante Pennyman is bringing back the same team this season. No changes in the roster at all. Speaking with him, he just said he wants to keep the same team so they can be consistent in their team play so they can win another championship. Hit Sqaud won their first game and will have a tough one next week against the Weekend Warriors.

Sons Of Basketball - This might be one of the most confusing teams in the league. Last season was a disappointment for them. After starting off the season 4-0, they went on to lose 3 of the last 4 games. This season they have one of the deepest roster this league has ever seen with 11 players. Lets see how this experiment will play out for the Sons.

Weekend Warriors - The Weekend Warriors made one of the biggest splashes before the season began by bringing back Scott Kapeller and Robert Douglas. Oh and the also brought in the Leading Scorer in Ultimate Hoops history in Mckinsey Golfin. Bringing in these 3 guys helps their chances of getting to the championship this season especially with their style of play.

One Under - GM Mike Welsh has brought back the same core and added a true point guard to his team in Lonnie Fairfax and a all around guard in Jarrod Rice. Rice brings championship experience to the team as he has won 2 championships. And with Lonnie he helps take pressure off swingman Desmond Sain with the ball handling abilities. We will see how this team will mesh throughout the season.

Running Rebels - This team looks to be one of the best teams on paper. But they are also one of the teams that has 10 players. Sometimes that can be a gift and a curse to have so many players in a league, you never know what will happen. This team can be very dominant with Tauron Bennett controlling the paint and Damon Dowdell on the perimeter they can be a very dangerous team.

Young Guns - This is a new team in the league with a lot of familiar faces. Most of the guys on this team have been the go to guy on previous teams and now they all are together on one team. They are 11 deep, with all guards. That can be a good thing, but with the size in the league this season, it could hurt them in the long haul. We will see if this team can pull off some upsets this season.
