PLANO, TX: The Direwolves Drop 75 Points on Getting Older | Record Set this Season

The Direwolves

The Direwolves, notorious for being the lower ranked teams over the past season, BUT, at the same time, possibly the most tight-knit, enthusiastic, and die hard Ultimate Hoops teams in Plano.

Last night all 7 of the Direwolves showed up to play arguably the most talented team in, not only the Plano league, but probably all of the Dallas region: Getting Older. With a lot of pre-game planning and teamwork before and during the game, The Direwolves were able to drop 75 points on Getting Older; the most any team has scored against this elite team this season.

Yes, the title to this article was very misleading, because, although they did score 75 points, BUT, they lost the game 75-137. I feel The Direwolves deserved a shout-out for their "dire" dedication to the league, love for the game, and their extraordinary amount of team comradery. Lose every game, win every game, it doesn't matter for this team of scrubs. They just love to have fun and click as a team.

Leading this team we have Matthew Minich, sometimes known as "John Snow". He's the stronghold of the team, making sure everyone knows when the games are, calls the plays, and encourages the team no matter what the circumstance.

Alex Simmons finds his spot on the 3-point line acting as a great role player. If he's open, you better bet their's a high chance that ball will hit the bottom of the net.

Don Le is known as the distributor. He loves to bring the ball down the court and find the open man for the easy bucket.

Matt Gayle, also known as "Bruiser" from his time with Left 4 Dead, is a stronghold down low for toughing up against the big guys. Snagging rebounds, setting picks, and making smart cuts to the basket for east buckets is what he likes to do. And don't forget his signature hook shot underneath the hoop...

Tim Minich is "Mr. Mid-Range". He has a few spots inside the 3-point line that he loves to take a shot from and they fall. He's like a machine: catch, aim, shoot, complete...

Kevin Minich, although a fairly new addition to the Wolf Pack, has been playing with most of these guys for years...especially his two brothers. Kevin was coined "The Wild Card" for his ability to drop 20+ points at any given time, or go stone cold and throw up bricks.

Last, but definitely not least, we have Jackson Davis, also known as "Action Jackson". Jackson is a unique player. He can hop out of the court, dunking isn't an issue, and he is the king of rebounds. Watch out because he'll pop out and hit the occasional 3-pointer, or a mid-range jumper. Beware of his stand-still dunk. It's unexpected and can be a jaw dropper to those who don't know him.

When this crew gets together, they have nothing but fun. They play to increase their own personal game as well as work better as a team. Season after season they keep getting better and better.
