SHELBY REC: Did Vaughn Gray Travel On Game Winning Shot? | Video Here

Opening night for our recreational league started off with Performance Fiber Glass, the defending champions up against House of Skillz. It was Mckinsey Golfin, going up against Vaughn Gray, two of our elite guards in Michigan. It was a tough battle throughout the whole game. Leading Performance was Marcas Anderson, he was solid all night, with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Mckinsey Golfin and Marcas Anderson, looked good together, as Golfin was able to find Anderson most of the game down by the rim. For House of Skillz it was Brian Olley who played great as well. He had 22 points on .77 percent shooting, 8 rebounds, a steal and block to go with it as well. The game came down to the final seconds. With only 8 seconds left, with both teams tied, Vaughn Gray split two defenders, step back and hit a game winning shot. On the game winning shot from Vaughn Gray, Performance Fiber Glass argued that Gray traveled before he shot the ball. The video below shows the game winning shot, in real time, and slow motion.

Juwan Watson and Mikael Lott go up against their former team the Walk-Ons. MonSTARS, Anthony Agents, making his Ultimate Hoops debut had a solid outing with 16 points, on .67 percent shooting. Keith Morris also returns to Ultimate Hoops contributing 15 points as well. Walk- Ons added new additons in Steven Youanis, Chris Choulagh, and Haitham kenaya. Chris Choulagh led the way with 25 points, shooting 7-10 from the three. Walk-Ons went 12-24 from long distance as they down the MonSTARS.

Y-Lie had a depleted roster for opening night, without their star Johnnie Brown and David Stephens. Dominic Dunlap and Tyrone Jordan combined for 43 points for Y-Lie. Y-Lie had a nice lead in the first half, but couldn’t continue it in the second as Bad Intentions kept on rolling. Dequan Wilson had a great game with 25 points and 5 rebound. Brock Bruner made his debut to Ultimate Hoops with 16 points and 7 boards. It was a good win for Bad Intentions, but don’t expect this Y-Lie team next week as they should have Johnnie Brown and David Stephens back.

Mountain Moon Shooters and All or Nothing squared off for our last match-up of the day. Bruno Kalaj led the team with 26 points and 9 rebounds. Timothy Gore contributed to 11 points and 10 rebounds and 5 steals, but couldn’t get it going in his debut shooting 3-15 from the field. All Or Nothing shot very well for the whole game, shooting around .51 percent. Jawuan Dogget led the way with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Jamier Mix makes his return with a solid performance, 18 points and 7 boards. All Or Nothing cruised by Mountain Moon shooters getting their first win of the season.
