SHELBY REC: Playoff Preview/Predictions | MVP Candidates Revealed

Playoff Preview / Prediction

Performance Fiber Glass vs Walk-Ons

This is a match-up that will determine if the Walk-On’s are for real. This team has shown signs of excellence, but fell short in games especially to Skillz and Performance. Walk-Ons are a young fast team, they can beat you with their transition offense and take advantage of your turnovers. With Sully Youanis scoring ability, surrounded by a cast of solid nice players, like Gari Donevski, Jonathan Combs, Anthony Rasho, and their big man in Juwan Watson. Walk-Ons have the ingredients to win, they have the talent, to beat any team in this league. Walk-Ons would need to start hot, and have Performance play from behind, if they want to advance to the championship round. Performance Fiber Glass are the hottest team right now with 5 straight wins heading into tonight. Their experience and IQ on the court is the reason they are on this win streak. They rank first in scoring, second in allowed points, they move the ball with 15 assists per game and they lead the league in rebounds per game. This team is 7-1, their best record since summer of 2013, when they won the championship. Mckinsey Golfin, has such complementary team around him. Bill Treece, Jason Sawinski, Evan Wilson, Brandon Boyle, and Val Juncaj. Performance would need to control the tempo, make the young guys play their game if they want to advance to the final.

Prediction:

Anything can happen in this game, every week is a different week, and you never know who is going to win. My two players to watch tonight are, Jason Sawinski & Jonathan Combs. I feel like the game will be decided on the play of these two gentlemen. With that said, I have gut feeling, that Walk-Ons might pull a huge upset tonight. It the playoffs, their young, and have lots of energy. I think they’re going to be electric, and run up and down the court, tiring Performance.

Walk-Ons- 71
Performance- 64

Final

House of Skillz vs Y-Lie

Y-Lie has their toughest match up so far this fall season. A big game, vs a very good team. Y-Lie has their big three in Tyrone Jordan, Johnnie Brown, and Dave Stephens. Their Most surprising player, is Henri Davidson. He leads the league in rebounds, with 8.5 rebounds per game. He is the leading shot blocker on the team as well and is able to put up points in the paint with his athletic ability. Rebounding is going to be the key in this game for Y-Lie, get on the boards, especially offensive boards. They will need to match Skillz intensity, play fast, and smart, there is no time for caution playing against Skillz. Y-Lie is the underdogs in the playoffs compared to the rest of the teams. Skillz are the best team in the league for a reason. They have a stellar point guard, one of the best big man you see play at Shelby lifetime. Surrounding them are shooters and playmakers. Vaughn Gray & Brian Olley have been complimentary players for each other. With Joe Gojcaj, Jeff Manoski, Anthony Amabile, and Jawuan Doggett. This team is beautifully built around Gray and Olley. Skillz usually explode in the second half, but last week they were stumped by Performance, and didn’t shoot very well. Skillz will need to score, and hit their shots, to beat Y-Lie and move to the final round.

Prediction:

My two players to watch tonight are Joe Gojcaj and Henri Davidson. I feel like Skillz are just too much for Y-Lie. Y-Lie doesn’t have pure shooters like Skillz has. I feel like Y-Lie will grind it out with them most of the way, but Skillz will pull away late in the game.

Skillz- 81
Y-Lie- 68
