Ultimate Hoops 2011 Spring Target Center (Unofficial) Power Rankings: Week 2

Is this a sign of UH at Target Center past, present and future? It seems that way, so far.

Ultimate Hoops 2011 Spring Target Center (Unofficial) Power Rankings: Week 2

Now that everyone's played at least one game in the Spring session at Target Center, let's take a look at the early leaders and the ones who still have something to prove.

Rank (Last Week) | Team | Record | Comment
1 (-) Abe Froman (1-0)
If the reigning TC and Gold Cup champs are feeling content with the UH Open League Winter Double, it didn't show in their first game. Dominance on the boards and stingy defense were an all-too familiar sight and there's no doubt they're still the team to beat.

2 (-) The Gauchos (2-0)
We know about their potent offense but the Gauchos have committed themselves to defense and rebounding in hopes of improving on last season's semifinal appearance. With a bye in Week 3, it may be worthwhile to scout their Week 4 opponent this evening.

3 (-) Timberwolves (1-0)
GM Sean-Kahn Sittnick made the biggest splash in the off-season by recruiting the triumvirate of Ridley, Johnson and Young-Graves. This coup-de-free agency essentially caused the collapse of last season's runner-up franchise. After trouncing the Magic in Week 2, the biggest question of the season may be the new team-name debate: Timberhearts or Bravewolves?

4 (-) Saints (1-0)
Sharing, stealing and most of all scorching the nets, the Saints blew the hapless Clubbers out of TC in their debut by shooting a stellar 56% from the field and even more mind-boggling 61% from downtown (17-28). Most notably, Halverson's performance was on-par with the greatest PPR games of Paris Kyles, last season's MVP. While our staff doesn't think this type of shooting is sustainable, the 3s could rain down once again on the Mighty Unicorns.

5 (-) Clubbin' Clubbers (0-2)
After being shell-shocked in Week 1, the Clubbers rebounded admirably with a respectable showing against the Gauchos. With the dynamic duo of Schnyders and Lee down low, the supporting cast will get plenty of open looks this season. Will their season swish or clank? Stay tuned.

6 (-) Magic (0-2)
Though the Magic boast a formidable 1-2 punch of their own in Wessel and Morlock, their distaste for defense and horrendous shooting from the supporting cast must be corrected if the Minneapolis Magic are to avoid the same fate as their Orlando namesake.

7 (-) Mighty Unicorns (0-1)
Despite losing by 32 to the Sausage Kings, we're hoping the Mighty Unicorns just did the opposite of the Saints in Week 1, which was to have the worst game (collectively) of their lives. If that's the case, they may not be in the cellar for long. Otherwise, they may be in for a long season.
