COMMERCE, MI PREP 17U: The Race For First Place Is Heating Up

Through the five weeks in our Prep 17U league we have a four way tie atop the leader boards. With each team being so evenly matched each game has been a nail bitter and given us our best season yet. There is still no clear cut favorite to win it all this year but if I had to put my money on a team it would be Team Anthony. GM Anthony Qarana made an amazing pick up during the draft which is basically his golden ticket to the championship game this year.

Team Anthony is a prime example of a complete team. They get it done on both sides of the court ranking second in points scored and points allowed. They have the Size to out-rebound any team, they have veteran leadership with Anthony Qarana leading the show, and best of all they have rookie sensation Anton Lucaj who has been unstoppable so far this season. Anton is a Rookie to the Ultimate Hoops league and was picked up under the radar during the draft. He has my nomination for Rookie of the year if he can keep doing what he has been doing.

Both games Team Anthony has lost this season have gone down to the wire and I expect them to be prepared to dismantle every team come playoff time. But the road to the championship is tough and don't expect any of the other teams to just let them walk away with the title this season. Keep a look out for the other two amazing rookies Tarik Saed from Team Kyle and Aaron Muscaro from Team Kalvin to help lead their teams to the championship game also. These three rookies are taking the competition level in the Prep League to another level, but which one will make sure their team gets the victory, only time will tell.
