CHAMPLIN: Rock Solid finishes regular season 7-1, awaits playoff opponent | Is Tobler UH's Allen Iverson?

Can Rock Solid be beaten in the playoffs?

Champlin, MN- With any new Ultimate Hoops league trying to make their mark in the crowded UH Nation landscape, the first season is about gaining one thing:

Respect.

Such is the case in the Open Division Ultimate Hoops Champlin league in Minnesota. Open Division teams in Minnesota are scrutinized like none other, so earning respect is only accomplished by one thing- winning.

The one team in Champlin that is doing plenty of #winning is Rock Solid who finished the Champlin regular season with an impressive 7-1 record.

Rock Solid guard John Tobler is proving to be UH's version of former NBA All-Star Allen Iverson. The 5'7" Tobler is averaging 19.8 ppg (3rd in league) and shooting 46% from behind the arc. Tobler also ranked 4th in PPR for the regular season with a 16.8 rating.

If teams want to beat Rock Solid in playoffs, they'll need to find "The Answer" for stopping Tobler.

Forward Bobby Schroeder is proving to be one of the top rebounders in the nation, averaging 11.8 per game (4th in the league).

But Ultimate Hoops is all about winning. And unfortunately just winning the Champlin Winter Season Championship won't be enough to gain top respect in the Minnesota Open Division. Until Rock Solid and other Champlin teams can prove they can compete with the current Open Division Minnesota Champion Abe Froman and the other elite Open Division teams in the Target Center and Bloomington South leagues, they will be viewed as just a "mid-major" league.

Let's hope Champlin gets their shot at respect in the Spring Season Open Division Playoffs in June. You can bet the teams from Target Center and Bloomington South will be ready to send a message to the new kids on the block.
