COMMERCE, MI REC: Is This The Best Guard Duo

Jarrod Rice And McKinsey Golfin On Their Phones

Throughout Ultimate Hoops we have seen so many great guards play in this league. We have seen guards that can control the tempo of games, affect the game defensively, and even light up the score board individually. In this summer session of Ultimate Hoops we have 2 dynamic guards on the same team, which might be the best guard duo we have seen in quite some time. With a combined 10 championships and multiple All-Star appearances, is McKinsey Golfin and Jarrod Rice the best guard duo this summer?

We all know, about McKinsey. He’s the all-time leader in points scored and he has won 8 championships. He scores in so many ways, but his go to move that defenders know that is coming but they never stop is his signature hesitation move. One of the most deadliest hesitations this league has ever seen. Once he gets you on your heels, and you think the hesitation is coming again, he hits you with the step back jumper which is smooth every time. And if that isn’t enough, if he don’t fall for the hesitation and if you contest the step back jumper he pump fakes and gets the defender in the air and draws the foul, and it drives defenders crazy every time it happens. That’s what makes him one of the best guards this league has ever seen. He can flat out score on anyone who guards him and this is why he is the “Legend.”

McKinsey’s counter-part, Jarrod Rice might compliment him the most out of any guard in this league. Rice’s mindset is defense first and his offense will come. He does everything well on the court, and he stays poised throughout games as well. When he is in attack mode there isn’t much you can do to stop him. In his 5’10 frame and big shoulders, he can punish any defender that gets in his way, and when you least expect it he will hit you with the euro-step and slide right around the defender. I have spoken to Rice on several occasions this season, and he has said that he doesn’t really care about the offensive side of the ball for himself. As long as he can slow down the opposing teams offensive weapon, he gives his team a fighting chance to win a ball game. So far, he’s done a pretty decent job by holding Desmond Sain to 20 points on 38% shooting and Jenero Dawood to 19 points, which is far off his season average of 31ppg.

McKinsey and Jarrod have combined to average 53ppg, 18 rebounds, 10 assists, and 4 steals a game, which made us pose the question, is this the best guard duo in Ultimate Hoops this summer?
