MANSFIELD, TX: Mansfield's All-Star Squad

Marcus Jones of Hoop Squad

We have a slew of talented players here at Mansfield, but it takes more than talent to make up a great team. I believe that if these 5 guys were on the same team, they would run through any team in UHoops because their chemistry would be phenomenal, and make any other competition beg for mercy. Here, in my opinion, is the All-Star team from Mansfield.

PG

For the PG position, I have to give it up to Paul Smith of Heavy Hitters. Not only do his numbers prove that he is an outstanding guard, but his effectiveness as a team leader has kept his team ahead of the rest, even with the changes that have occurred. He is the most aggressive guard in the league who fights for rebounds (especially offensive boards) and is not shy to taking a hit while in the paint. His fierceness intimidates the other guards, as he can easily get to the paint to draw a foul or drop the floater. If that doesn't work, he unselfishly dishes the ball, as he trusts each and everyone of his teammates, a true PG.

SG

Meet young star Jarvis Benn and you can immediately tell that he has an intense passion for the game. I've seen this kid work on his game day in and day out, often in the gym more than 2 times a day, and it has paid off. Jarvis has good size, and is not afraid to drive to the cup, but where he excels is in his long range shooting. If he drops one from behind the arc, you better be looking for 3 or 4 more in a row to follow. One thing that will capture you is Jarvis' emotion during the game. He can spark the "monster" in his comrades, getting them to play at a higher level.

SF

Justin Tatum is 6'1" but his long arms make him seem 6'5". He plays quite well from the wing, and can slash to the basket rising high above the others with his arm span. He handles the ball very well, and isn't afraid to pass, but what I really like about him is that he defends exceptionally well, his finger tips seeming to be right at the ball at all times. It'll make you nervous before attempting your next crossover. His wirey frame also allows him to squeeze between defenders and make his way to the basket.

PF

I'm not sure if he's a true PF, but he definitely is one of the biggest guys in the league height wise and pound for pound. Nick Shaw amazes more and more each game, with his ability to dunk you in the paint and pierce you in the heart with a 3-ball. He may have the best all around game in the league, being able to shoot, dribble, pass, rebound, and defend well, and is a imminent threat to any opposing team. He will shoot in your face, and the fade away from the corner and baseline seems to be perfected. If anyone is to ever average a triple-double in this league, it would be him.

C

Marcus Jones
may not be an aggressive scorer, but he certainly plays big in the paint, and his presence is felt. He is a creator, and what I mean by that is that he creates offense for his teammates. He's the type of player you want in the paint during your triangle offense scheme, because his post up is strong, and he keeps a swift eye out for slashing and cutting players, players on the wing or short corner, and players deep in the 3 point zone. Probably the most unselfish player in the league, but he will go for buckets when the opportunity presents itself.

6th Man

Need a backup PG/SG? Julian Johnson is your man. Probably has the best drive game in the league, and that is mainly due to his ability to leap high above opponents. Once he is on, he is ON. There's no stopping him. You will see him get to the line at least 6-8 times on average, so taking hits is something he specializes in.

7th man

Danyul Hamilton is one of those forwards that can get to the lane and get hot from downtown. He has long legs and long arms, and that really hurts other teams when he can jump as well. I really like that he is patient with the ball, not always trying to rush or force baskets, and you will often see him in the textbook triple threat position, thinking on his next move.
