MANSFIELD, TX: New Competition Arrives | Week 2 Predictions

Mansfield Ultimate Hoops

The league has expanded to 6 teams this season, with a few old faces back in the mix, and even more new faces that are ready to take on what many are already saying will be one of the most competitive seasons Mansfield has seen in quite a while. In Week 1 we saw all 3 games come to close finishes, and Week 2 is bound to be as exciting. Let's see what we've got lined up.

7:15 - The Vets vs Lunch Ballers
That's right. They're back. After "retiring" for a few seasons, The Vets have returned thanks to their captain Milton Ervin who urged the team to play once again. They have also picked up who is probably the most solid big man in the league, Donnie McDade who put up 25 points and grabbed 14 boards last week. At 6'8" 240 lbs., he's a force to be reckoned with. Lunch Ballers have also acquired a center presence in likes of Laurence Daggett who stands at 6'5" and weighs 245lbs, so it'll be nice to see these 2 match up. Overall, both teams have weapons, but The Vets experience may come to intimidate some of the young players on the Lunch Ballers squad. Prediction: The Vets by 6.

8:15 - We Get Buckets vs Heavy Hitters
We Get Buckets have picked up a couple of key guards in Ian Jansz and Michael Alejandro. Both can move the ball well, and seem to be combined good replacement for their former star guard Chauncey Lusk, but I think Heavy Hitters may have way too much firepower. Team leader Paul Smith has put together quite a talented group of young guys, and with pickups like Jacob Van who had 15 points 8 rebounds and 5 assists in game 1, and Josh Gbolabo has added some height to the team, getting 10 rebounds and 2 blocks in the contest. My Prediction: Heavy Hitters by 10.

9:15 - The Agents vs Hoop Squad
The increase of new players has sparked a free agent team known simply as The Agents, and they seem to have merged together pretty well as team, now they just need to score more points! Guard Alex Jones looks to be promising, as his speed and talent dribbling the ball makes up for his height. Hoop Squad (Formerly the UHoopaz) are having to adjust to the loss of scoring brothers Paul and Tristan Smith, and appear to be a bit shaky starting off this season, but they still managed to have the 2nd highest score last week with 79. Though they appear to be struggling, The Agents don't seem to have quite enough firepower to manage. My Prediction: Hoop Squad by 8.
