SUGARLOAF, GA: Hustle Gang Prayers Were Answered

The last week of UH Life Sugarloaf regular season came to an end last night on player appreciation night. Teams made sure they were going to leave a lasting impression just before the playoffs.
Prolific shooting paced Hustle Gang to a dominating win. Life Timers defense is nightmarish when they come to play and they did Tuesday. RainMakers poured it on offensively late to get the win. The Finest’s Tyler Baker put on a magnificent performance for the season-finale.


Hustle Gang 73, Huskies 53
Depth, speed and athleticism were the key to Hustle Gang’s dominance. Martin Johnson, Michael Johnson, Sterling Whitworth and Brett Abraham had double-figure performances. Martin Johnson recorded 25 points, while his brother added 18. Abraham and Whitworth chipped in with 12 points apiece. The team also shot 56 percent from the field.
The Huskies shooting struggle was a reason behind the teams demise. They shot 32 percent from the field. However, the leading scorer Julien Wilson was the only one to shoot over 50% from the field and three-point line. He finished with a team-high 18 points. Kojo Owusu had 16 points, while Kenny Britt added 11 points and 11 rebounds.



Life-Timers 93, Team Come Up 74
Chucky is a movie and Life Timers became a nightmare for many of their opponents when they come out ready to play. This was not different. Life Timers got after it on both ends of the floor and constantly had Team Come Up looking over their shoulders.
Steve Morant led the onslaught with 29 points. Marquis Babb was a sniper from the perimeter with 20 points. Justin James had 15 points. Roi Madu chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Jeremy Sledge was not trying to let his team come up short but there wasn’t enough scoring available. He finished with a game-high 37 points. Gemecko Herrera added 25 points.


RainMakers 65, Team of All-Stars 56
The offensive comeback from the RainMakers was all it needed to pull victory from defeat. Matthew Owusu led the charger with 26 points. Kelvin Porter recorded a double double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Duc Nguyen knocked down shots for 11 pointsTeam of All-Stars could not hold onto a double-figure lead as it struggled on the offensive end late. Nick Lee led the team with 12 points. Tyler Baker chipped in with 10 points.



The Finest 83, Prime-Timers 56
Tyler Baker may have had his best offensive game of the season. The Finest guard scored a career-high 35 points in a variety of ways. He was the most impressive player on the floor. Teammate Floyd Brown chipped in with 21 points. Rashad Muhammad recorded a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Ivan Ramos scored a team-high 16 points in defeat. Chris Brown chipped in with 15.
