BLOOMINGTON SOUTH, MN: Thunder to be #2 seed in Bloomington?

Who Will Help Their Playoff Hopes?

Went 6-2 last week. This is my last chance to get it right. I should be doing a bracket for the playoffs as the change over from Wednesday to Thursday night games is pretty quick for me to write an article but I might try so stay tuned.

Supersonics Vs. Lakers

That forfeit to Clem's Kids is looking bad for the Supersonics now. If they could have won that game they might have a slim chance at the playoffs with a win this week. The Supersonics also have a good shot at winning this game.

The Sonics main problem has been their shooting percentage but luckily for them the Lakers have been one of the worst defensive teams in the league this season. Since week 3 no team has shot under 40% from the field against them and only two teams have scored less than 90 points since then as well.

I expect this trend to continue and I look to see the Sonics shooting much better and winning this game.

Timberpuppies Vs. Blue Chips

The Timberpuppies are on a four game skid and it easily turn into a five game losing streak after this week. The Blue Chips are a team that they won't be able to use their normal 2-3 defense on and will be forced to play man to man. When forced to play man to man the Timberpuppies seem to struggle. While they are taller and bigger they are less athletic and can give up some easy points in the man to man defense. This combined with the loss of Michael Byrne means this game should be a lot less close than the on paper match should be.

St. Baul Vs. Thunder

Another big test for the Thunder. Last week the beat the Riddlers, I know it was without Rablin and the ending was controversial but a win is a win. This week they get to prove to the committee how high they should be ranked come playoff time. They are pretty much assured of a bye past the play in games but this game will bring them an easier match-up if they can win this game.

St. Baul could be in trouble this game. They seem to have problems with team that are more physical than they are. The Thunder are physical to the point were I have heard people call them a chippy team. If St. Baul lets this effect their game they could be looking at the play in games in the near future.

While I know the Thunder will get under St. Baul's skin a bit and that could lead to St. Baul playing a bit sloppy at time I think that St. Baul is just too talented to let that decide this game.

Huskies Vs. Clem's Kidz

I'm sure that looking at their schedule earlier this season the Huskies saw that they were playing the Clem's Kidz and they looked at it as they would get a nice practice before the playoffs and it would be a free win. Well the Kidz have been very close to pulling off upsets in the last two weeks.

If the Huskies over look the Clem's Kidz like the Guerrillas and Thunder they could find themselves fighting for a victory late in the game. But if they come in looking at this game as another game of UH basketball and bring the same effort they have for the last two weeks they should win this game with ease.

Guerrillas Vs. WatchaMaCallits (F.A.)

The Guerrillas once again had a huge second half let down. This time it was against the Clem's Kidz. After going up 51-32 at the half they let the Kidz climb back and almost let it slip away but squeaked by with a five point win 80-75. That could have been very problematic for the Guerrillas but with the win the are almost a lock for the playoffs.

I bring up the fact that they are a lock for the playoffs because they seem to stop playing when they believe the game is in the bag. This could be the cases against the WatchaMaCallits this week. If the free agent squad gets five players together this game could be a trap. With the playoffs in site I could see the Guerrillas just going through the motions and giving up another win that they should get.

The one saving grace is that with a win the Guerrillas might get a first round bye. Hopefully this is enough for the Guerrillas to play hard enough to win this game. If it isn't we could see an upset and some very upset Guerrillas players, which could mean problems come playoff time.
