GILBERT, AZ: Spring 2016 | All First and Second Team

There has been a huge influx of new talent this year as; there are a bunch of new guys that have entered the league for the first time and were hungry to show their worth.

Stats play just one part in the discussion. We’ve also taken into account, the value each of these players has brought to their team. Everyone is entitled their opinions and no right answers truly exist really, but I think the subjectivity is what makes this such a fun topic - regardless of how much data we use to support the picks, we’ll always be subjected to scrutiny and criticism.


All Gilbert 1st Team
• Kenny Mahone (25.9 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 2.1 APG – 27.6 PPR) - GRINDIN
It always seems Kenny has jumped on different teams every season, but the one thing that has been constant in his game is his scoring. He was off a bit early in the year and it took a while to find his shot, but once he found it, he FOUND it. His speed, size, and strength are unmatched in this league and what sets him apart is that he is one of the very few that can both shoot and drive with ease.

• Fred Dudley (26.4 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 5.1 APG –23.7 PPR) – GAME OVER
Fred is one guy we always talk about and there’s a reason why; he has been the model of scoring consistency. There are games where he just straight up wows us with his shooting and can get hot on a dime. To be fair, he really does it all for this team. On any team stacked with talent from top to bottom, he will always be considered one of the best - bar none.

• Connor Exline (22.3 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 1.6 APG – 14.9 PPR) – HITTIN TRIPS
The team has seen numerous players come through, but Connor was a big reason why this team was viewed as true contenders in the beginning of the season. He has shown the league that he is as versatile as they come and that he can score with the best of them. He has a long, smooth shot and can get his shot off anytime he wants. His game translates very well in this league and I suspect we’ll hear more from him in the upcoming seasons.

• Steven Wess (17.3 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 5.9APG – 10.1 PPR) – GRINDIN
The numbers weren’t as dominate as they were last year, but that speaks more to his IQ and willingness to involve his team more than anything else. His scoring is always going to be on point, but I saw growth in his rebounding and play-making this year. GRINDIN had a somewhat disappointing season, but he makes this team go and he is a big reason why they are able to do what they do.

• Josh Hunter (13.3 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 1.3 APG – 19.5 PPR) – GAME OVER
A veteran of this league and you know what you are going to get from Josh. He continues to impress game after game and is as solid as they come. There weren’t many bigs that could keep up with him this season. He’s a solid rebounder and he always does a great job establishing himself with his array of low post moves on the low block. His presence on defense made it hard for guards to get in the lane and get off good shots. He continues to be one of the more efficient bigs we’ve had in UH.
