Most Valuable Player Watch
1. Kareem Toney - Kareem Toney is starting to show his real talents. Every week his PPG has been going up and in week 7 he went off for 33 with a 70% FG percentage. He also complimented his great scoring performance with 13 rebounds and 3 steals. He really made a statement stating hes one of the best players in Mississauga.
2. Justin Wiltshire - Justin is back! Justin Wiltshire who just came off an injury showed that hes his usual self last week. Brining up the energy for his team, attacking the basket strong and protecting the paint. He had 18 points and 15 rebounds last week and looks like he came back just in time to lead his team in the upcoming playoffs.
3. Leon Christopher - Leon Christopher is the most improved player in the league thus far. Leon is a straight hustle player and just gets the job done. He plays hard defense, attacks the basket on offence controls the offense, everything! He had 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists last week vs a fairly strong team. We're excited to see what he brings to the table when playoffs roll around.
Defensive Players of the week
Ajax
Shaquille Francis
A usual and easily Mvp, Shaq gets defensive player of this week. Shaq scored 30 points this past week but hes defense was impeccable. He 9 defensive rebounds and 5 steals and he was all over the place on defense giving the #1 team in league lots of trouble. This young man is able to play exceptional offence or/and defense at almost any given time.
Mississauga
Paul Boychuk
Big guy in the middle Paul Boychuk is a problem inside for anyone playing against the Force. Last week he had 9 defensive rebounds and 2 strong blocks. He also had a couple steals as well which is great for his position. Its hard for teams to get to the paint against Paul especially when Force decides to run a zone defense. Look out for him in the playoffs because like they always say "Defense wins championships".
Offensive Players of the Week
Ajax
Lorrington Murray
A pure bucket scorer Lorrington Murray shows his scoring ability week after week. Hes one of the X factors in Eastside Goodfellas' current winning streak and he can do it all. He scored 26 points last week and also contributed in assist giving out 4 of them. Him and Peter Okalebo are one of the strongest duos in this league, lets see what the playoffs hold for them.
Mississauga
Ahmed Haroon
Team Hacov's MVP Ahmed Haroon can do it all. At his size he is able to switch positions at will. He can dribble. shoot rebound and he also has great basketball IQ. He scored 36 points last week and also had a couple steals and assists. Every week he brings a strong offensive performance to the table and he has been a big pick up for Team Havoc. They are a team you don't want to play early in the playoffs, they can bang with the best.
Stay tuned for next week's MVP Watch and predictions and see if coordinators Clive and Rovonn were correct with their predictions. Defensive and Offensive players of the week are announced every other week so stay consistent.
