AJAX, ON: Game Notebook Week 2 | The proof is in the Juice
It's the second week of Ultimate Hoops Toronto in Ajax and based on the results from last week a lot of new rivalries and beefs have been stirring up. However one team in particular really stamped down who they are this week.
Game 1: Red Hawks vs Team Dab
Game 2: Jumpmen vs The Defaz
Game 3: Eastside Goodfellas vs Soldiers
Game 4: Tough Juice vs Durham Flight
Game 1
The night started off in a fast paced and emotional game between the Red Hawks and Team Dab. Both of these teams came from loses the last week and had a lot to prove. The rookies at Team Dab had their missing player from last week back Richie Allen. Who led and coached his team in this one. Trying to have all his guys contribute and play hard Richie Himself finished this game with a solid 17 points. Mike Hindley and Harpinder Athwal also played pretty well scoring 9 and 8 points respectively. Red Hawks did however have the hot hand in this game. Capitalizing on Team Dabs missed baskets Red Hawks had a lot of fast break points. The Trio of Dominick Philippe, Jeron Kerr and sharpshooter Mark Grizzle are no joke scoring in the double digits and grabbing rebounds. Dominick scored 14 points and had 9 rebounds giving his Red Hawks what they needed to seal this win. Final score was 67 - 50 for the Red Hawks.
Game 2
The second game was an interesting one. This game was a one on one battle between Shaquille Francis and Justin Wiltshire given that they were the only ones to score double digits on their teams. Shaquille did arrive late to the game giving The Defaz the edge early one to grow a decent lead. Shaquille scored a decent 11 points and 6 rebounds but it wasn't enough to neutralize Justin Wiltshire's 21 points and 7 rebounds. Jumpmen need to find a rhythm going for them and other players need to step it up or it'll be a long season. The Defaz defeat Jumpmen 44 - 28.
Game 3
Ultimate Hoop Coordinators Clive and Rovonn predicated that Eastside Goodfellas would play a lot better this week and win vs The Soldiers. Eastside played ok but the Soldier played better. One of last years star player Peter Okalebo is still trying to find a good rhythm with his new team. He needs to be scoring more if hes team is going to do good this season. Lorrington Murray and Ygan Hagong, Eastsides two back court guards had 14 and 8 respectively and game their team a good chance against the Soldiers. Anthony Irispen and big Chris Elizon both played great and made it hard for the Goodfellas to secure a lead. Anthony had 14 points and Chris had 10 points giving The Soldiers the win over the Goodfellas 39 - 31.
Game 4
The headline team of the week Tough Juice brought it strong to the very strong Durham Flight. This game was the best of the night with two very talented teams facing off, however the results weren't what we were expecting. The strong team Durham Flight has it all from size speed, shooting ability and intangibles but barely showed them this game. Tough Juice all contributed well together, Andre Chung scoring 19 points, Aiman Saleh grabbing 11 rebounds and scoring 10 points and powerful Stanleigh Mitchell getting the rack hard scoring 12 points. Durham's Flight Dela Cruz did well scoring but his right hand man Andrew Clarke under perform this week. Tough Juice prove themselves again beating Durham Flight 66 - 45.
