COMMERCE OPEN: Power Rankings | Dat Ain't Fair take first loss in 15 games

Chris Dierker after his monster dunk

C4 makes a statement in week 1 taking down Dat Ain't Fair, who had only 1 loss in the past 2 seasons.

1) C4 (1-0) – After two sessions and no championship, C4 started off the spring 2016 session with a bang, defeating the defending champions Dat Aint Fair 101-73. C4 was clicking on all cylinders on offense, hitting 59% of their overall shots and knocking down 18 3 pters. PG Brandon Nafso led all scorers with 36 pts, showing incredible chemistry with his brother, Justin Dabish, who has returned to the team after taking two sessions off, giving C4 the most dynamic backcourt in the league. Add in Jeff Jayson (28 pts, 7 3’s) and the presence of 6’9” C Joseph Kassis and you can see why C4 is the early favorite to bring home the title.

2) Dat Aint Fair (0-1) – Despite a 28-pt loss in week 1, Dat Aint Fair is still 23-2 in their last 25 games at Ultimate Hoops Commerce. It would not surprise anyone to see this team run the table from here on out, there is too much talent, and too much history on their side. As long as they can stick together after an embarrassing week one loss, they will be just fine. Look for DAF to respond BIG in week 2.

3) Hit Squad (1-0) – GM Devante Pennyman is back with a completely different looking roster than previous sessions. Add in a big man, Rocko Holmes, who went for 35 pts and 21 rebounds in the week 1 100-85 victory over Sons of Basketball and you have a legitimate contender to compete for a championship.

4) Ill Life La Familia (0-1) – One of the surprise teams to come together for this session, ILLF came together to scrap to a 58-52 victory in week 1 over a scrappy Running Rebels Squad. Led by the tandem of veteran guard Julius Barnett (18 pts) and talented young big man Chris Dierker (14 pts, 10 reb), ILLF will be in playoff contention all season long. To be a true contender, they are going to have to find a way to score a few more points though.

5) Sons of Basketball (0-1) – I don’t think we saw GM Darius Statum’s whole team in week 1 so we will not be quick to rush to judgment after giving up 100 pts to Hit Squad. A solid core of Statum, Joel Simposn, and Kane Poehlman is a start, however, they are going to have to add in a few more impact players if they are serious about competing for a championship, or even making the playoffs this session.

6) Running Rebels (0-1) – GM Rashodd Ross had to feel a little extra pain today losing against his former lead guard Julius Barnett in his game, and then had to watch another former player Phillip Nelson stand out in the game after his. The current roster just doesn’t have enough firepower to compete with the top guns, however, they will battle every night defensively and be in the playoff hunt throughout the season.
