MINNESOTA: Wizards, Celtics advance to Spring Season Recreational Championship Game
Roell and Pinkett battle for position
Fridley, MN- For the past three years, the Recreational Division basketball champion in Minnesota has emerged from two leagues- Fridley and Bloomington South.
But the 11-0 Wizards are looking to put the Plymouth Recreational Division on the Ultimate Hoops map this season.
The #2-seeded Wizards, behind another brilliant performance by center Michael Byrne (18 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks) defeated #6 seeded St. Baul 59-55 on Thursday night in Fridley to advance to the Spring Season championship game.
Guard Bennett Lang also had a strong game for the Wizards, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists.
The Wizards will now face the mighty #1-seeded Celtics who defeated the pesky #5 seeded Bobcats 54-48. 4-time MVP Marcus Marshall led the Celtics with 18 points, five rebounds and four steals.
The Wizards and Celtics Championship should be a game for the ages. Expect Jonathon Moore and his alter ego HotTubTonyBaby to start turning Celtics fans into a frenzy through the franchise's Facebook page and HotTub's Twitter account.
But don't expect the new kid Wizards to be intimidated by the flashy and brash Celtics. Between Roell and Quincy Young, they have double digit UH Championships to their names and have been battling in the UH wars for five years. They know how to scheme and mentally prepare for big UH games. They will be prepared.
The Minnesota players committee will be announcing a date and location for the championship game soon. Reserve your courtside seats early!
