ATLANTA, GA: Week 3 Scouting Report | Who is Team Follies/Late Starters?
Doug Rhodes smiling over a much needed win.
Doug Rhodes: 5’8/ Guard/ School: Macomb
Rhodes may have one of the best mid-range shots in the league. He tends to get the defense on there heals and pull up for the shot. The mid-range shot is a lost art in this game but Doug seems to prefect it. He reminds me of Detroit star Richard Hamilton. When Doug drives left to the basket he will pull up for the shot, but when he drives to his right he is going to the basket. He does not get to the free-throw line often with only 2 attempts of the season. He is averaging 11PTS. /3.3 REB /3.3AST so far this season.
Chadam Cole: 6’0/Forward/ School: Unknown
Chadam “ HighFlyer” Cole is a surprisingly profound leaper. He can out jump almost anyone in the gym. He is known for his hustle plays and seems to always have his motor running. He is leading his team this season with 16.3PPG. Cole is not a good free-throw shooter as he is shooting 55% from the line. When he is shooting the 3pt shoot I would leave him open as he is only shooting 24% from the arch. He is a hustle player who plays the game right by rebounding and making intelligent decisions.
David Votta: 6’0/Shooting Guard/ School: Babson
David “This Is My League” Votta is a player who always starts the game on fire but tends to slow down as the period dwindles down. He played point guard in high school but has now moved to shooting guard. When he drives to the basket he tends to push off to to create space as well as the foul. He can hit the 3pt shot even though his numbers tell another store, shooting 23% from the arch this season. In my eyes he needs to continue on his offseason workouts to get better condition, so he can be productive through both halves. He is shooting a terrible 54% from the line which is unlikely for him. He is averaging 14.7PTS /5.3REB /1.0AST this season.
Sean Moffett: 6’0/Guard/School: Unknown
I like this kids game. He hustles and he is passionate. He is known for his mid-range floater when driving into the lane. When guarding him I will force him to go left as he makes bad decisions when driving left. He can shoot the 3pt shot but prefers to drive to the lane. He does not get to the line often with only 2 attempts this season, which hurts his game. If he gets to the line more, it will illustrate his aggression. When Moffett wants to play defense he can but tends to result back to bad habits. Overall solid player averaging 22PTS /4.5REB /1.5AST this season.
David Graham: 6’1/Forward /School: None
David “Coach” Graham is a role player who never takes any plays off. He is a defensive stopper and takes pride in guarding the best player on the opposing team. Anybody would want him on there team because he will set screens, rebound, play defense as well as motivate you in the heat of battle. Most of what Graham does on the court does not add up on the stat sheet but his loves for the game is evident. Graham is averaging 5.3PTS /5.0REB
Justin Boone: 6’1/Center/ School: None
Justin “JB” Boone is known for his emotion and trash talking. He will get into the oppositions head and cause havoc on the court. He is not a jump shooter at all and does most of his damage around the paint. He does not have a left hand so when he drives he is going right 96.4% of the time. When around the basket he does have crafty moves and will pump fake you to death.
Andre Carter: 6’4/Forward / School: Unknown
Andre “Dre” Carter is a dominate left handed shooter who can hit the outside shot and runs the floor very well for his size. When he is in the post he likes to shoot over his right shoulder. Carter will not go right, but is crafty enough to make you think he will. He can torch you if you do not respect his game. He plays great defense, leading the team in steals 3.3 per game. Carter averaging 12.5PTS /8.0REB /1.5AST
Gorm Laursen:6’0/Center/ School: None
Gorm “G” Laursen was once a known set shooter who can hit that shot from the arch. He has been in a slump lately and it is evident. 0-3 so far from the 3pt line. Rumor has it he has been in the gym late nights getting his form back to standards. Laursen is a right hand dominated center who does not take enough shot attempts. He seems to be a pass first type of player instead of getting into a rhythm. My suggestion to Laursen is shoot more and the game will come to you.
