WESTMINSTER, CO: Week 5 Preview | Time for Separation

Time to play some defense

The second half of the season begins tonight, and a lot of questions need to be answered before we get to the playoffs. How many teams will remain undefeated? Of the teams that have lost, who can compete for a title? Can anyone towards the bottom of the standings turn their season around in time for the playoffs? A lot of questions, but in the meantime, we take a look at the week 5 matchups.

Long Shots vs. We Goin Sizzler

In this matchup, we have an undefeated taking on a defeated. Long Shots are looking unstoppable early on this season and We Goin Sizzler is on the other end of the spectrum, still trying to look for their first win. The Long Shots will look to push the pace and get points in transition while We Goin Sizzler will attempt to slow the game down and get quality shots. The Long Shots should win this game but it wont be as easy as it seems on paper. We Goin Sizzler is still a quality team, they just are missing a few key players that they have had in leagues past.

Slam Drunk vs. The Great Unknown

It’s hard to believe that Slam Drunk is still looking for their first win. They have been a powerhouse in past seasons and for some reason just can’t find their groove this season. The Great Unknown is coming off of a blowout loss last week and will attempt to use this week to get back on track. Chad Smith will look to take over for the Great Unknown so it will be up to a good team defensive effort on Slam Drunk’s part to stop him. Slam Drunk has shown they can score the basketball, but it’s the defensive end where they struggle. This should be a closely contested game that will likely be decided within the final minutes of the game.

The Gladiators vs. Lifetime Legends

Lifetime Legends played amazing in their first half last week going into halftime with the lead. It all fell apart from there as they fell to the Bad Boys in another blowout. Still though, that first half showed this team can indeed compete. If they can put together a whole game like they did the first half last week, then they could be competitive in this league. The Gladiators are coming off their worst shooting performance of the year and will use this game to boost their confidence as we head into the second half of the season in a few weeks. Expect the Gladiators to shoot their way into a large victory.

The Kardashians vs. The Bad Boys

We expected The Kardashians to be drama filled this season, but it turns out, it’s the Bad Boys that should have their own show. Trade rumors are lurking as the Bad Boys can’t seem to coexist as a cohesive unit. We aren’t sure what players will be on the Bad Boys next week so its hard to say what kind of game this will be. The Kardashians are 3-2 and are looking to rise up the standings after already playing the two top teams in the league. We don’t know what to expect from this game, but we do know that there will be some drama along the way.

Hard Work vs. Hong Kong Diesel

Hard Work is still undefeated but suffered a huge blow this past week losing David Bustamante to a knee injury. Bustamante was arguably the team’s best shooter and losing him will certainly be a huge loss for Hard Work. Hong Kong Diesel is coming off a tough loss last week in a game most expected them to win. However, we expect Hong Kong Diesel to compete with Hard Work. They simply have too much talent not to do so. Expect this to be a tough, gritty game. Hong Kong Diesel wants to make their name known, while Hard Work continues to strive for perfection.

MonSTARS vs. Impact Basketball

The Monstars have been surprisingly good this season and have been in every single game they have played thus far. The MonSTARS look to dominate you in the paint and that’s where IMPACT basketball is going to depend on Beau Barney and Jimmie Binnie to put a stop to that. IMPACT basketball is always going to be the favorite in any game this year and this week will be no different. Expect the MonSTARS to compete, but the duo of Beau Barney and Jimmie Binnie will prove to be too much to handle.
