WOODSTOCK/MOUNTAIN BROOK, GA: Week 2 Power Rankings | 3 OT Buzzer Beater Stops the Hammers Slide

Taylor Patterson's huge shot gets the Hammers to 1-1.

Week 2 was full of exciting games. Taylor Patterson of the Hammers looks to have got his swagger back after being out of the league last season. His huge triple overtime game winner made a big statement to the rest of the league. The Hammers are back! But are they good enough to move up in our rankings?

1. No More Losses (2-0)

No More Losses picked up a big win this week versus the Other Guys. They had a very balanced approach with 4 guys in double figures and no single person taking over 10 shots. This team already looks in midseason form, and their new additions don't seem to be causing any issues. Prince Kearney has added a true inside presence and elevated their play. They have knocked off the two top teams in the league back to back.

2. Other Guys (1-1)

The Other Guys played a tough game against No More Losses, but in the end they couldn't come up with any clutch plays. They got very close to pulling it out, but they do not have the experience yet to get it done. The addition of power forward Zac Callen is a huge pickup for this team. His athleticism and size creates matchup problems across the entire league. After coming off a huge game in week 1, Austin Cheatum, had a very subpar performance with only 7 points. Obviously the competition level increased from week 1, so we will have to see if Cheatum can perform when the level of play increases.

3. Hammers (1-1)

The Hammers were looking at going 0-2 to start the season, but Taylor Patterson saved them with a buzzer beater 3 pointer. The Hammers have a couple new players and so far they haven't figured it all out. Anthony Stefanelli has started the season 0-14 from 3 point range. I think we may have a Josh Smith situation on our hands. If the Hammers can start taking better shots and playing team basketball they may be able to contend this year.

4. Skyforce (1-1)

Skyforce let one slip away on Wednesday night. They could easily be sitting in the number 2 spot right now, but their inconsistency holds them back. Jarrett Hinton had a great game in week 2, scoring 19 points on 8 for 8 shooting from the field. Michael Leight added some great highlights from the guard position, but they did not get the kind of performance they needed from Will Bristow to get it done. Bristow left the contest early with a strained oblique and they missed his leadership down the stretch. I expect them to bounce back quickly. They are the only team in the last two seasons to beat No More Losses, which shows they can play with the best.

5. South Beach Bombers (0-2)

Sonny Givens has his work cut out for him this season. The famous player/coach will have to find a way to get these guys to play together. They still have not had their entire unit show up, so that is why they remain at the number 5 spot. If they can get everyone on the same page, they could surprise some people in the league. I just don't see them anywhere near a championship game this season.

6. Roswell Ballers (1-1)

It's official! Carlos Carthen has won a game at Ultimate Hoops. Lots of people did not think they would see this in their lifetime, but it has finally happened. Marcelino Duran and Brent Jones seem to be the offensive force behind the Ballers success this past week. I still don't think they are as good as South Beach when they are full strength, but they did beat them by 19 points. If they can get a win next week versus the Other Guys, they will jump in the rankings.
