WESTMINSTER, CO: Week 2 Preview | Upsets on the Horizon?

The Westminster spring league is in full swing, and we take a look at the week two matchups.

Lifetime Legends vs. The Great Unknown

Heading into the first matchup of the night, the Great Unknown were impressive in their week one victory, while on the other hand, The Lifetime Legends struggled to find chemistry in a blowout loss. The Great Unknown’s Chad Smith is surely known around the league and is looking to put up big numbers this season. With TJ Cyriacks at his side, this team is certainly a contender. Look for them to make easy work of the Life Time Legends.

Long Shots vs. MonSTARS

In this matchup, both teams are coming off week one wins and are looking to string along a streak of wins. The Long Shots are back and with a few minor roster tweaks are better than ever while the MonSTARS shocked everyone with their week one win over Slam Drunk. On paper you have to give the nod this week to Long Shots, but as we saw last week, on paper is never always right. MonSTARS want to prove the league they are a team to be taken seriously, and a win this week could really solidify that. This game should be high scoring and up tempo. Expect either another blowout win for Long Shots or a very close win by the MonSTARS.

The Kardashians vs. MonSTARS

In the back to back game of the night for the MonSTARS, they will be matching up against a very talented team in the Kardashians. The Kardashians are coming off both a win and a loss in the first week, but were impressive to most. Fatigue could play a major part in this game for the MonSTARS seeing as it will be their second game of the night, The Kardashians will look to push the ball and score points fast and put away the MonSTARS early. Look for the MonSTARS to slow the game down and try to control the game in that way.

IMPACT Basketball vs. Slam Drunk

This matchup could prove to be one of the better games of the night. League powerhouse, IMPACT Basketball is coming off a week one win and will be facing a very seasoned team in Slam Drunk. Slam Drunk had a rough week in week one but many don’t expect them to play like that every week. There is too much talent on that squad for them to be counted out this early. IMPACT Basketball’s Beau Barney always has his team in a position to win. With the aid of Jimmie Binnie, this team is capable of beating any team in the league. This should be a hard fought game filled with lots of good basketball.

The Bad Boys vs. The Gladiators

This matchup features two teams that play hard on both ends of the court. This should be a very intense and aggressive game on both sides. Both teams are coming off losses in week one and will be eager to get on the winning path. If they Bad Boys pretended every game this year was a playoff game they would be one of the top teams in the league, but as history shows, they just aren’t consistent during the regular season. With the addition of Richard Peterson, this Bad Boys team is vastly improved over past seasons. This is a huge game for both sides and a win could set way for a very promising season for either team.

Hard Work vs. We Goin Sizzler

Hard Work will be the favorites heading into any matchup this season. They have an identical team to last year and their chemistry is only improving. We Goin Sizzler is a solid team but are missing a few key players they have had in leagues past. Hard Work is a very good team on the defensive end of the court which leads to easy buckets on the other end. We Goin Sizzler moves the ball well and doesn’t force many shots. If We Goin Sizzler wants to win this week they will have to slow the game down and get quality shots. Hard Work will look to put the game away early and get another double digit victory under their belt.
