WESTMINSTER, CO: Week 1 Power Rankings | Thing Change But Stay The Same

Can you handle this?

With the first week of the spring season in the books in Westminster, we take a look at the first edition of the power rankings. There are some new teams this season, but the spot at the top is occupied by a team that looks to cement it's legacy in Westminster...

1. Hard Work (1-0): The defending champs looked dominant in their week one victory over The Kardashians. In the case of Hard Work, the rich got richer with the addition of Reggie Jackson. The basketball version of Mr. October led Hard Work with 18 points and also had four blocks on the night.

2. The Great Unknown (1-0): In season's past, The Great Unknown is actually known for their scoring ability, but on Tuesday night, defense was the name of the game as they held The Bad Boys to 30% shooting. On the offensive end, Tim Cyriacks led the way with a double-double, dropping 18 points and grabbing ten boards.

3. Impact Basketball (1-0): One thing is certain with Ultimate Hoops Westminster, and that's the fact that Impact Basketball will always be at or near the top of the standings, which is where they are again. Impact looked a little shaky at times without anybody coming off the bench, but they pulled out the victory as Beau Barney and Jimmy Binnie combined for 53 of their 68 points.

4. Long Shots (1-0): In what was the most lopsided victory of the evening, Long Shots took down Life Time Legends 115-53. This one got ugly early, as Long Shots had four players register double-doubles, led by Derek Elliott with 31 points and 12 rebounds.

5. MonSTARS (1-0): Nobody looked more impressive to start the night as the MonSTARS did, as they jumped out to a 23-1 lead over Slam Drunk. While they weren't able to maintain that lead throughout, they were able to win comfortably, 71-57. Team captain Kyle Norman was a force in the paint with 14 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks.

6. The Kardashians (1-1): No one had a tougher night than The Kardashians, as they took on last season's number three seed (We Goin Sizzler) and the defending champs (Hard Work,) but The Kardashians handled it well. They may have split the games, but this young team will be a force to be reckoned with as the season goes on.

7. The Gladiators (0-1): The Gladiators gave Impact Basketball all they could handle, going in to halftime with the score tied at 36. The second half proved to be a different story, as The Gladiators ran out of gas and ended up losing by eight. Mason Clements-Thompson led the way for The Gladiators with 26 points.

8. We Goin Sizzler (0-1): The team that ended the winter season with arguably the best chemistry couldn't find any on Tuesday night, as We Goin Sizzler dropped their season opener to The Kardashians. The road doesn't get any easier for Sizzler, as they face Hard Work in week two.

9. The Bad Boys (0-1): The Bad Boys improved their roster with the addition of rising star Richard Peterson and Ultimate Hoops Brand Ambassador Matt Cannizzaro this season. It's not a question of if, but when they find their chemistry, and when they do, there's no doubt in my mind this team will be climbing the power rankings in no time.

10. Slam Drunk (0-1): The season couldn't have started worse for Slam Drunk. Before they could blink, they were down 23-1. They were able to claw back to shrink the lead to single digits, but in the end, the deficit was too big to overcome. This is another UH veteran-laden team that will be climbing the rankings in no time.

11. Life Time Legends (0-1): The Ultimate Hoops free agent teams usually take their lumps early on, and this was no different for Life Time Legends. They do have some talent on this roster, and once they figure out how to play with each other, they should give some teams a run for their money.
