WESTMINSTER, CO: Winter League Week 2 | The More Teams The Better

The referee is ecstatic as The Bad Boys are far from it.

Winter League at Westminster, CO has caused enough chatter for us to possibly add an eleventh team this week. Our league is bringing in a packed house on Tuesday nights and with the addition of one more team, we’ll be taking over both courts from 7pm to 10pm. Spectators are encouraged to come cheer on their favorite teams, but please be advised that games do get heated and seats are limited.

The Great Unknown-95 Hoopsters-65

Returning to make a statement in this league is the team The Great Unknown. A big performance was made from TJ Cyrics this week who drained 31 points helping The Great Unknown lock down their first win of the season. With some changes to their roster, The Hoopsters are built with some of our youngest and determined players. Richard Peterson performed well again for the second week in a row, as he scored 30 points and grabbed 18 rebounds.

Ignite Athletics-85 The Bad Boys-73

Even with no subs, Ignite Athletics continues to move their way up the power rankings this week with a 85-73 victory over The Bad Boys. One of Westminster’s newest members, Blake Mahler made his presence known on the court this week scoring 30 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. The Bad Boys fought until the last second but were out-rebounded underneath the basket and ended up 12 points short this week.

The Gladiators-85 Slam Drunk-79

It literally looked like a gladiator fight as tempers flared in the most heated game of the night when The Gladiators drained 9 threes in the second quarter gaining their first win this season. Gehrick Dickson played huge for Slam Drunk this week scoring 29 points. Slam Drunk has proven to be a threat last season and have added even more talent to their roster this season; they are sure to come back in week 3 ready to do whatever it takes to get another win.

IMPACT Basketball-104 Man Bear Pig-62

With the best team shooting percentage in our league, the defending champs are looking hard to beat this season. Even with a hand in his face, Mike Brooks was exquisite in and outside of the paint scoring 33 points for IMPACT Basketball. Man Bear Pig Captain, Brad Elliott, is working on calling all his teammates this weekend to make sure they have a bench next week and can come ready to redeem their reputation.

Hard Work-88 We Goin Sizzler-73

This game got intense quick and whether he’ll pay up or not, Ruban Rivas played so hard he broke Dan Stoneburgs new Jordan’s. We Goin Sizzler was able to stick within ten points the entire game but fell short missing some key shots with an overall shooting percentage of 37%. Shondell Lee continues to be the big 6ft point guard that he is and lead his team with 30 Points.
