TEMPE, AZ: Brandon's Week 3 Preview | One and Done???
Simeon Rice is officially on the waiver wire. Will any team sign the disgruntled superstar by the week 5 deadline??
Week 3 is here! Nearly half of the field remains undefeated and half will claw desperately for a win. Week 2 saw some brutal beatings and one crushing defeat that caused some players to quit the league altogether! (#Wheredotheydothatat?!) Lets examine the match ups!
Game 1: Game Over vs Brad Carroll
Ok, my "feelings" moment is over. Game Over has found a nice stride going into week 3. They are undefeated headed into this weeks matchup with Brad Carroll and his band of not so merry men. Game Over found a way to distribute the ball and as a result, all of its players had impressive numbers in week two action. Brad and the boys are going to have to dig deep and find a way to win in week 3, otherwise this season may prove pretty long for them.
0-3 is a dismal way to start any kind of season...Game Over is a tough matchup to have when trying to save your season.
Prediction: Game Over By 18
Game 2: Monstars vs Who's Next
Welp...the good news is that one of these teams will finally get a win. On the other side of that coin one team will start the season with a morale-busting 0-3 record. Who's Next has had an atrocious offensive output, they are last in points scored and 9th out of 10 in assists. Figuring a way to facilitate and put the ball in the bucket is of utmost importance. These guys have to stop imploding and come together for a win. The Monstars are a surprise flop so far...this is a team loaded with talent and athleticism but they seem to lack the ability to close out a game. Statistically they are in the middle of the pack in all stats except rebounds. Neither team wants to see a goose egg in the win column come week 4.
Prediction: Because Halloween is near...Monstars by 9
Game 3: Ball Out vs Bulls
I vote to change Ball Out's team name to "All Out"; not for effort, but for the fact that they were all out before the end of last weeks game! Half of the team quit! Whether they quit that game or the entire league remains to be seen...there's no quitting in b-ball!!! Don't know who they will have for the game but they will undoubtedly have a hard time facing the Bulls. Word on the street is that the Bulls have signed point guard Brett Bernbaum due to the fact that Mark Hanoosh has been placed on the IR.
Prediction: Ball Out forfeit. If not a forfeit, Bulls by 20
Game 4: Splash Brothers vs Tron 55
This should be a great matchup! Both squads are loaded with talent, IQ and athleticism. Both are undefeated and neither one plans to walk away from this matchup having dropped a game. The size edge definitely goes to Tron 55...while the ability to shoot and create scoring opportunities is definitely more evident on the Splash Brothers side. Tempo and ability to exploit each other's weaknesses will decide this monster showdown!
Prediction: Bros by 10, the deep ball will be the equalizer.
Game 5: Jayhawks vs Cali Boyz
2-0 taking on 0-2. This game is also a must win for the 0-2 Jayhawks if they desire to be competitive this season. Ryan, Archie and Jovan need to find a way to right their ship if they want to even sniff at a championship. This team is 9th out of 10 in points allowed, buckling down on defense is a must.
The "Fabulous Braxton Boys" have led their Cali Boyz to defensive prowess to this point in the season. The Boyz are leading the league in the points allowed category which has led to their undefeated record. With that defense in effect and a decent scoring effort they shouldn't have a problem going 3-0.
Prediction: Cali Boyz continue their hit streak and win by 6
See you on the court!
