A Star Is Born: Chicago's 18-year-old Donovan "Deuce" Coleman is the newest UH sensation
Minneapolis, MN- Ultimate Hoops tournaments are where stars are made. In this past weekend's Midwest Regional Tournament in Minneapolis, the biggest star to come out of the tourney was also its youngest.
18-year-old, 5'8" point guard Donovan "Deuce" Coleman (above) of Chicago's Young Money Brick Squad team was pound-for-pound (Coleman weighs 150lbs if you're counting) the best point guard in the tourney.
Coleman averaged 19.8 ppg, 3.3 ast, and 2.3 stls for the tournament. Against the much hyped The Truth team from Detroit on Sunday, Coleman nearly single-handedly led YMBS to the big upset with 33 points as they eventually fell 83-78.
Coleman was named to Joe Neuenfeldt's First-Team All Midwest Regional Tourney Team on Monday.
In the Ultimate Hoops League in Chicago, Coleman is a player on another team in addition to YMBS - League Money Express in Warrenville where he is averaging 12.5 ppg and 2.1 stls.
After his star-making performance in Minneapolis this weekend, expect Coleman to receive extra attention from other players and fans in Chicago.
Another big question is this: Will Coleman demand big money from Young Money Brick Squad in the off-season? Will Balln Owner/Player/GM Robert Sutton make Coleman a lucrative deal to join his championship franchise? Could be a lot of drama in the short off-season before Spring Season tips-off.
